@Wlodek
Yes, I just reinstalled my version of 5.5.0, which is labeled “Version 5.5.0/Build 1/64-bit.” Same behavior, same crashes as version 5.5.1.
Finally, I used Device Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall all graphics card drivers and then reinstalled them, but the crashes persist.
Well, I rechecked, uninstalled, even went back to 5.4.0.506 (Win) and it still chrashes …
Let me show this later in detail (have to go shopping etc).
First a snippet from the VP 5 User guide (pdf) → page 66 .
DxO added Mode buttons for the renewed ReShape Fusion, the most important change from VP 4, to put them in the very lower left corner, next to the companion-options Grid (and Line) color of its predecessor.
.
VP 4
.
VP 5 (Free Transform)
which by default starts with Move, the functionality of VP 4 ReShape
.
VP 5 (Perspective) **))
.
VP 5 (Volume Deformation)
It looks like DxO tried to separate global (right) and local (below) adjustments, but then crammed important tools into a corner, keeping them small and “unimportant” out of sight, while everything else happens on the right.
Aside from this serious GUI issue and the fact that VP 5 apparently wasn’t thoroughly tested, the screenshot of VP 5 (Perspective) shows the bug. **))
-
There are additional (forgotten?) “Reset” and “Apply” buttons. The latter is grayed out and crashes the application when used, while the regular (not grayed out) “Apply” button on the right does nothing – neither adjusts anything nor crashes the app. -
The “blue nodes” are not activated – and prevent you from selecting anything that could then be adjusted.
**)) after further examination !!
- The additional “Reset” and “Apply” buttons are also present in PL8.7.1_633 / VP5.5.1_542 (Win)
.
and come to life after pulling those lines
.
likewise in VP5 Standalone
.
In the embedded version, I can “Apply” this customization
(but the “Reset” button doesn’t work and have to use “General Reset”,
.
whereas in the standalone version, the “Apply” button crashes the application …
There is definitely still room for improvement!!
Hello, I did a test on another hardware.
A GTX 1650 4 GB is installed that does not meet the minimum requirements.
VP 5 5.5.1 Build 542 = Reshape in the “Perspective” mode crashes.
VP 5 5.0. Build 426 = Reshape in the “Perspective” mode does not crash.
Although minimum requirements of the GPU are not reached.
For me it is due to the software version, not because of the GPU.
It also crashes in the current VP 5 5.5.1 Build 542 with an RTX 4070 (see @Wolfgang).
On the other hand, VP falls in an older version VP 5 5.0. Build 426 Even with a too loud minimum requirements to weaken GPU.
Let me know if you know something new.
Thanks
I have something new:
Today I received a fixed (“special version”) ViewPoint Version 5.5.1. So far, it seems to work as a standalone and as an LR plugin. I haven’t had any more crashes with the ReShape function with multiple images.
Let’s see if future updates will fix this as well or if I’ll have to stick with this version
What kind of special version? Which build number? Where did you get this version from? Directly from the DXO Support?
I received it directly from Support (as I already wrote, I contacted Support about the problem four weeks ago). According to the program information, it is version 5.5.1 Build 552.
Support used the term “special version” in the info mail with the link to this version.
Well, DxO should publish it as hotfix. Others also have that problem.
And the plug-in for PL8 is also not error-free.
Until then, I’d not recommend to spend money on VP 5 !
@Fabrice-B and others – please take note
I collected the last days of extensive information including test on other hardware and sent to DXO.
Unfortunately I didn’t get a version of improved version for testing.
Version 5.5.2 released. Bug fixes.
Thanks to DXO and the forum for the feedback.

NOTE
The local Perspective mode → Reset button
resets the Horizon, Force Parallel, or 8 Point tools only (e.g. for redrawing).
To reset the applied local correction use the global Reset button.
