Howdy,
I had not accepted the very latest update of Photolab 9, so I am still on 9.1.1. build 26, or that is what it shows. It “offered” update today but I declined again. I still do not know what I am doing with all those fancy masks, and I am running under Sequoia 15.6.1. I believe that it still works in that clicked on the AI and the various options showed up i.e. sky or were selected when I clicked on them i.e. water.
I photograph ships and as further testament of I do not know what the heck I am doing with the masks for example, when I select sky the sky inside the rigging is not selected and I have a heck of a time, if I am doing it correctly adding those areas to the sky mask.
Quick, down and dirty edit example
And those masks sure show up the dust spots on the sensor
I always fix dust spots first using the Repair tool.
Did you try using the AI mask for Vehicles ? I get better results using Vehicles when photographing bikes (with thin spokes) than I get with the generic Subject mask.
Sometimes the spots do not show up until I do something with the sky or background etc. then I repair them (this shot, again, was just down and dirty to show how the sky in the rigging area was not selected by the AI). I just got that camera and I was not expecting the dust spots, unlike my other camera, it has a sensor shield. I have indeed played with the ships and boats using the AI for vehicles, but I think that for the most part the hulls and superstructures were selected, I can’t remember if I could do anything about the sky behind the rigging.
Howdy Joanna,
I mentioned that one time at the Apple Help Group and got myself jumped big time. It just could not possibly be Apple’s fault, it is always the application programmers fault(a lot of slobbering and foaming going on, and I would wager that I was using Apple computers before their parents were born). Then Apple comes out with an update, that always along with “security issues” includes bug fixes and they say bug fixes. Now I wonder what those bug fixes were, because for the most part they are vague.
Do you have a hi-res image that you can upload here (Dropbox perhaps). I could play around with it and see if I can find a process that works for rigging.
