Support for Nikon Z6 III

Thanks, Marie. It’s a shame it won’t be supported earlier (I’ve just taken delivery of one) but equally it’s good to have expectations correctly set :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m guessing it’s going to coincide with the release of PL 8 in September. If DXO does the same thing they did last year, support will also be provided for it in PL 6 and PL 7.

Hi Marie,

Any update on the release of support for the Z6iii from Nikon?

Thank you.

As @Marie recently indicated in a different thread, the Nikon Z6 III profile will be available when PhotoLab 8 is released. That should be very soon, probably within the next two to three weeks or even sooner. It should also be available for PL 7 and probably PL 6. It is very unlikely it will be available for earlier versions.

Mark.

The sooner, the better for me! I’ve been around three quarters of Australia with a Z6 III and having to make do with processing JPGs. I hope I can get some RAW prising done before I leave Oz in about three weeks’ time.

@mwsilvers , where have you seen that:

She not said that but above in this post:

And it is not stated that it will available only with PL8!

So I guess we’ll have to wait until the usual modules release post to know if it will be available for PL7 also.

It was not explicitly stated, but I read between the lines.

Historically updates to previous versions with new camera support, profiles, bug fixes, etc. are not released in the last couple of months prior to the annual release of PhotoLab which is expected sometime this month or early next month.

The annual release date for PhotoLab has changed somewhat over the last couple of years so that it’s a little harder to predict it as accurately as in the past years, but the annual pattern with regard to pre-release updates has not changed. I also never indicated new camera support and lens profiles would only be available in PL 8. I said they will be also be available for PL 7. Following last year, it is also possible PL 6 will continue to get updates as well for a few months after the release.

Announced today, Z6III is supported starting with PL 6.19, as well as 7.nn(?) and PL 8 just announced as well.

Hi Marie, I see that the Z6iii is now supported in PhotoLab 8, do you know when it will be supported in PureRAW? I do not see it mentioned in the web site.

Thank you.

In the link that I’ve put above it said supported in DxO PureRAW 4, DxO PureRAW 3.
And the list of camera supported by PureRaw on the site says:

In the release note of PR v4.4, the Nikon Z6iii is one of the new supported camera.

Hello @MikePhotog ,

Nikon Z6 III is supported in PureRAW 4 and PureRAW 3.
you just need to update the minor version of your software.

Marie

Yay! The rest of my Australia pictures will be the better for it. Thank you!

I want to upgrade from PureRAW 2 to PureRAW 3 as it apparently supports my new Nikon Z6iii. I can’t upgrade to PureRAW 4 as I’m still on macOS Monterey, - it says I need macOS Ventura.
Can I still download PureRAW 3?

Hello @GeoffG ,

for that please contact support via https://support.dxo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
They will help you easily.

Marie

I have been using Photolab 7.2 … and that didn’t support the Z6III. Today when I pulled up Photolab I got the notice that a new version (7.9) was out and that supported the Z6III. I promptly downloaded and installed the update. When I open the directory containing my Z6III raw files with Photolab7.9 I got the same error message as before (This image cannot be processed since it was taken with a camera that is not supported by this version of DxO Photolab). So even with the new 7.9 version I can’t edit my Z6III raw files.

What compression do you use ?
Not sure photolab accepts any one of them. You should check.

With Nikon there has to be some compression … the only options for RAW are “lossless compression” and 2 forms of High Efficiency compression. I’m using lossless compression.

I was thiking to High efficiency.

I got the update to work now, but I don’t know why. I always keep a copy of my raw files right off the camera in a “do not touch” directory. The I copy them over to a working directory. I deleted the files in my working directory and copied the raw files from the original directory over to the working directory. This time my Photolab 7.9 correctly saw that this was a Z6III and needed to download the module. It was as if the 7.2 photolab tagged the files as not supported and the 7.9 just took that tag to be the truth. When I deleted those files and replaced them with the files from the camera it looked as though 7.9 actually took a look at them and figured out that it does support that camera.
