Searches like ">3 stars" or "1 or 2 stars"

Using Photolab 9 on a Mac, how can I search for images whose star rating is “2 or 3” or “Greater Than 2”, etc? I’ve been trying for over an hour to find a way. I have tried using the filters and search functionality. Can someone help?

One way could be to search for a generic term like “.NEF” and then filter by rating.

It’s a workaround, I know, but that’s what we do while using PhotoLab’s missing features.

Just type a Number (ie 2) then select *2 from the drop down

I can’t see any place to set a range of ratings though

If you just type * then you get a drop down of various ratings

After a search has shown the results you can add another criteria to the search field. for example I first search on 5 select *5 from the drop down

Then type Blue to bring up a logical AND for this search, so it searches for *5 and with a Blue tag

Note that it is NOT possible to search for search1 OR search2 (its only search1 AND search2) so it has to match ALL criteria

There is a Feature Request already filed for this functionality, you can find it here to add your Vote

I would argue this one should be the one to vote on:

It has more votes and has more or less the same functionality asked for.

I wish we could merge some of these feature requests together and consolidate the votes!

Thanks for this hint!

Never use PL for this stuff, I do it in Lightroom.

A DxO staff member (Svetlana) used to do this routinely. A DxO reorganization left no one actively managing the forum - it’s strictly a user community now. However, DxO staff can be asked to perform specific tasks such as what you’re interested in. There are two options: flag a post or topic for review by staff, or open a support request at support.dxo.com. I think the best option (that DxO would prefer) is to flag a post and specify what you want DxO to do.

I did not remember having read this post ; I reread it and found that there was nothing to add to our comments from that time.
It’s likely that DxO, having lost money, took measures to limit expenses, particularly the forum. They cut back to the bone!
That doesn’t stop me from regretting that there isn’t a more informal and direct line of communication between DxO and users, which I’ve seen on another forum, that of the company 4D.
