I’m wondering whether the marketing manager at DxO is using a wrong AI model…
Yes!
This is what we see in post after post.
DxO appears to kind of finally fulfil many users wishes.
DXO Support’s reply to my similarly worded support ticket. Don’t plan on XD2 or PureRaw4 getting xtrans support ever.
We understand that our announcement about future X-Trans support may have led to some confusion, and we’d like to take a moment to clarify. While we previously mentioned that our development team was working to extend this technology to Fujifilm X-Trans RAW files, we did not specify which version it would be part of, as the timeline and implementation were still being finalized.
X-Trans sensors have a unique architecture that differs from Bayer sensors, requiring dedicated development for demosaicing and noise reduction. Because of these differences, technologies and features cannot be transferred directly, which affects the noise reduction algorithms available for each sensor type. These distinctions are detailed in our documentation.
As we’ve previously shared, our R&D team is continually refining and improving our algorithms for both sensor types while upholding DxO’s industry-leading quality standards. However, X-Trans cameras represent less than 10% of the market, resulting in a significantly smaller dataset for deep learning. This makes development more complex and outcomes harder to predict. Despite these challenges, we remain fully committed to providing the highest image quality for all photographers.
By upgrading to version 5, you’ll not only gain access to DeepPRIME XD3 for X-Trans sensors but also benefit from all the new features in this release. We invite you to try a free trial of DxO PureRAW 5 when it becomes available around mid-April and experience its latest enhancements.
New trick: Pre-order…
It says order, but when I click the button, it tells me “buy”.
Cat in a bag? No trial? No discount? No buy!
Imo, DxO is pushing the limits. Not in what tech can do, but in what a seller can do. It almost feels like trumpism…
This is disingenuous at best. DxO didn’t specify which version of PureRAW would get X-Trans support, but they did specify which version of DeepPRIME would get it. Either they were mistaken that they could get it done in DeepPRIME XD2s, or they decided consciously to develop a new branch implementation with X-Trans support and call it XD3. Regardless, they left XD2s and hence PureRAW 4 without that support they promised. To add XD3 to PureRAW 4 would effectively satisfy their promise, rather than make existing customers pay again. After all, it seems they are going to add it to PhotoLab 8. smh.
Maybe they should throw in a cape as a pre-order bonus? Everyone is pretty stoked about the cape, right?!
The first thing that struck me was the reflective viewing window for looking at the camera. Like, that’s going to work well with a bright white sky behind the photographer - not
Here’s one photographer who won’t be going for that.
Perhaps the reflectiveness was artificially enhanced in the photo so viewers could easily see that there was a window in place rather then just an opening.

You are probably right. But it’s curious that this is where they are investing. There is a lot of demand for enhancements to their software by users who probably already have the photography weather thing figured out and who are not in the market for DxO apparel. I’m sure they don’t want Adobe photography gloves or an Affinity camera bag, either.
I couldn’t agree more. They promised “coming soon” but they didn’t say, “provided you buy the next version.” This is what it’s turning out to be. In my opinion, DxO is in deep trouble, and they are starved for cash. Only this can explain this greedy milking of customers for all they are worth.
Their technology is good, but they are competing against huge companies who are also improving their products. I bought PR4 because I don’t want to upgrade my license of PL6, and I thought that PR4 was a way for me to denoise and demosaic using DxO technology. Well, DxO screwed me: they broke their promise, and they now want me to pay for a feature I have already paid for. Sorry, guys, no dice.
If this were an American company, I would contact the better business bureau. If I knew of there was such a thing in France, I would contact them. In the meantime, I do have one recourse: jump ship and not give DxO a single penny of my money. As the saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice. shame on me.”
Other companies are catching up, but without extensive pixel-peeping, you can’t tell the difference between photos processed by DxO and images processed by many of their competitors. Besides, if looking at this detail is what viewers of my photos do, then my photos can’t be very good.
You want to buy PR5 now? Be careful: the company may not be around in April.

It’s in French, but you can get along with google translate.
Before making a report, remember to contact the company’s customer service.
Your report will be sent to the company. Fraud repression does not solve individual problems, but making the report can encourage the company to respond to you. Fraud repression may decide to conduct an investigation into the company thanks to your information.
Mentirosos! Me sinto totalmente enganado, tapeado.
Thank you for this. I do speak French, so this will not be a problem. I very much doubt that anything will come of this; DxO can always claim that a “coming soon” does not constitute a legally binding contract; I have no doubt that their lawyers can easily weasel out of this. Clearly, it’s not just a couple of users who feel cheated (see post by Eduardo Lima in this thread). The lack of responsiveness from DxO is appalling. I will give the procedure a try, but frankly, I’m not holding my breath. At this time, I feel that the only way to not feel cheated by DxO is by not dealing with them. It’s a pity, because I would very much like to support smaller companies, but not at the expense of feeling ripped off. Anyway, thanks again.
Argh. We’re still waiting for X-trans in PR4!
I’m not buying PR5 until they have working Fuji support.
To correct this statement a bit:
X-Trans is supported in PureRAW 4.
- HQ, PRIME, DeepPRIME noise processing are identical to those of Bayer sensors
- XD2s noise processing is not available for X-Trans, only XD processing is.
So saying that support is limited is correct,
saying that X-Trans files are not supported is… a lie!
Not if what is meant by X-Trans support is support in XD2s. You’ve changed the subject. (See the topic heading.) DxO said XD2s would support X-Trans, and now it appears that they’ve abandoned that for the new XD3 - which as far as we know isn’t being added to PureRAW 4. DxO still might add the new tech to PR4, but they haven’t said they would. Maybe they will get people to buy PR5 first.
I have nothing to add or change to the content of my post which was in response to JeroenM’s, but I should have quoted it.
For the rest, DxO’s commercial strategy escapes me.
But what seems absolutely certain to me is that they will not implement XD3 X-Trans in PureRAW 4.
Free personal assumption: the PureRAW 4 code is a year old (and probably even older if there was a beta version) and may not be compatible with the new process where they go directly from generation 1 to generation 3 while skipping generation 2.
Well, you need to see the context. When PR4 came out about a year ago, DxO claimed (repeatedly) that XD2s was “coming soon”. If there is a lie in all this, then it’s what DxO said. This is the context in which JeroenM’s statement must be seen. I, for one, knew exactly what he meant; we are not in a court of aw here, and those of us who feel cheated by DxO just know that DxO promised full X-Trans support in PR4, and that never happened, nor will it ever happen.
As far as DxO’s commercial strategy is concerned, it’s crystal clear: squeeze as much money out of customers as you can, no matter what it takes. It bodes ill for the future for a company that was once nice to deal with.
I think I know the context quite well, having been a DxO software user for 20 years… And of course, this isn’t a court of law: everyone is free to express their opinion.
The problem I have is the claims made by users regarding DxO’s supposed promise of an update to PureRAW 4 with XD2 for Fuji X-Trans cameras. (And I also find these claims on sites other than this one.)
It’s possible that such a promise was made… except that I can’t find any corresponding written documentation. That’s not to say there aren’t any, but out of curiosity, I just did a fairly thorough review of DxO documents and communications on PureRAW 4, and I found nothing of the sort.
So if you have such a document, it would be nice to share it; I’m willing to change my mind.
The written claim from DxO was that DeepPRIME XD2s would be updated in the near future to include X-Trans support. What isn’t clear about that? PureRAW 4 includes DeepPRIME XD2s. XD3 isn’t XD2s, it’s a different thing. So the question is, will XD2s (and by extension PureRAW 4) eventually be updated also? Probably not, but DxO hasn’t followed up on their original claim yet.
See Post #3 in this topic/thread. It was in this document when I posted the link. It appears DxO has since removed the reference.
