PL9 can't type in export path anymore

@Wolfgang If the current manual says what it says then Support must report the error back to engineering since the product does not measure up to the published specification.

They were quick enough to hide behind the hardware recommendations, i.e. I had a very frustrating to and fro with a Support rep. over the GPU rejection of 2GB GPUs with a notice that stated the minimum requirement of 1GB, when they quoted the stated requirement published with PL8 release which was higher.

Please beware those published requirements because you won’t get past Support if your GPU is less than the stated requirement!

The manual is definitely wrong, from an accuracy point of view but right from a users point of view.

But the get out will be to rectify the manual not to revert to the old way of doing things, 5 minutes work versus a few hours (arguably 30 minutes but then comes the testing, albeit it worked fine before and they wouldn’t need to change the documentation!)

I understand that Engineering is under a lot of pressure at the moment, too many new features, not enough time to test adequately and a rushed release but all of those things were DxO’s to control, not the users, who are “suffering” the consequences.

Not any kind of “excuses” accepted.

The manual (currently available as online version only) is the reference for all users, the new one’s included. – So, either the manual has to be corrected or – better – the PL 9 Export reverted how it was before in PL 8.

Me too Keith! I can´t either modify a present search path in the Export to Disk windows but I think there is a work around still. There is always the possibility to add or rename a folder from PhotoLibrary and then just select the new or renamed folder in Export to Disk. I can live with that until they fix it. I just tried and it works.

With every new release of PhotoLab, the user guide has had to catch up after the fact. There are plenty of errors and omissions - it helps if bug reports are submitted to DxO to report where documented behavior does not match actual behavior and let them sort it out.

Sorry they say this is a change. Need to chase up support to get them to change it back to the original saving
From support

  • If you choose Custom folder, you need to navigate to and select the folder where you want your files saved. The path shown will then automatically update to reflect your choice. Directly typing into the path field is no longer possible

Yes that seems to be the case now.

There’s (almost) nothing changed for the output directories.
Simply, Path (PL8) has been replaced by Subdirectory (PL9).

  • If you want to export to a subdirectory, you now simply type its name in the corresponding field. E.g., “Exports”
  • If you want to export to a directory located at the same level as the raw files, the path becomes “…\Exports”
  • If you want to export to a directory located higher than the raw files, the path becomes “…\ …\Exports”

Note: it seems that the forum refuses to display 2 times …\ I had to add a space after the first \ - this space must obviously be ignored.
Edit : There’s also a problem with the “.” It’s impossible to display only two dots; it’s automatically transformed into three dots!
So you have to read “dotdotbackslash”

The only difference with PL8 is that instead of starting from the raw directory level, you start from the lower level, the subdirectory.
This is a simple change of practice; nothing changes the options.
(Windows, of course)

You can if you use “preformatted text” formatting (Ctrl+e) … like this;

  • “.\SubDirectory” … or “..\SameLevelFolder”. etc

I too just upgraded from PL8 to PL9. When I ‘export to disk’ and try to choose a custom folder clicking on the icon nothing happens. I have to stick to the default folder.

Welcom to the export. Send into support to put pressure on to get it changed backup.

I would suggest that you use LongPathTool
