I updated to PL8 (version 8.0.0 build 32) for MacOS and can’t open TIFF files anymore.
PL 7 works okay but version goes in to a none responsive loop forever and does not even show filenames or anything else.
I am running PL 8 on a Macbook M1 Pro with macOS 15.0.1 installed.
The folder containing the TIFF’s is placed on a LaCie USB drive which generates a lot of IO’s and becomes warm during the loop. After a period of at lease 15mins the IO’'s stop but now image appears on either PhotoLibrary or Customise.
PL 7 open the folder in a split second and shows the first TIFF.
I assume this is an unplanned modification and want to report is as bug but I don’t know where and how.
I’m having a similar issue with large JPGs and TIFFs that worked fine on previous versions too. Support was enormously unhelpful. I wasted days talking back and forth, having me install and uninstall and install and uninstall, send logs with no resolution. All I can hope is they release a patch one of these weeks.
DxO does monitor this forum. Unfortunately, they have rarely posted or responded to queries here In the last couple of years. Prior to that they had a much more active presence on this site.
Out of curiosity, if you copy one of the TIFFs to the internal drive, can PL8 open it then?
I am using TIFFs successfully with PL8, but they are all internal. Most are around 100MB, with the largest (a panorama stitch) at 550MB. This is on a MacBookPro 14" with M1 Max, 32GB ram and macOS 14.7. I have not tried macOS 15 (Sequoia) with PL yet.
