I hear you as to “laughing with”.

That was early days with Fuji X-Trans and the options for demosaicing were limited. Iridient X-Transformer was the best, but I was puzzled as to why the DNGs were rejected by PhotoLab. Iridient was also a bit puzzled as to why DXO was rejecting linear DNGs, and they suggested that I add Sony camera brand and model info to the two fields that most people leave blank. It worked, though the EXIF data showed Sony.

That allowed me to compare PhotoLab and Photoshop side-by-side. I was impressed with the results I got with PhotoLab and as Adobe converted to the subscription model, I transitioned to PhotoLab – though I still keep my copy of the last licensed Photoshop on a computer.
