Missing waste basket in the picture browser

It is not acceptable that with DXO 9 the waste basket was removed for adaptation to the MAC version. When do we get back the waste basket ?

Hi @busch-roland

Just hit Shift+Delete.

The Trash icon (waste basket) was removed in PL9 to free space for the Stacking feature (grouping), presumably to help some Lightroom users.

You can still use context menu for image removal, but that’s more distracting than just using the Trash icon before. You can also use the Reject thumbnail button and then remove batches of rejected images using image filter. But overall, it would be better if users were given a choice in the Preferences to use the left bottom corner for Trash or for Image Stacking. Personally I find the stacking feature useless but many others wouldn’t agree.

I mostly use mouse for PL editing, so Del would be a better choice than Shift-Del. That’s part of another long standing story – Keyboard Customization. Those who mostly work with Affinity (Canva) or PhotoShop, use keyboard much more often, and got used to various shortcuts.

This user agrees with you !! … See here for suggestion/request to allow users to enable/disable Stacking feature by option in PL Preferences.

Would like to hear from DXO why the wast box was removed. Sure there are other possibilities to delete pictures. But the wast box was the easiest one. I request the reinstallation of the wast box.

You needed to consider other opinions and also the sheer practicality and side effects of your request.

Mac users have managed without it for quite some time now.

Now that the stacking has been added, where exactly do you envisage it going?

And please don’t suggest a choice dialog. That way leads to madness, with everyone want to choose which corner for which tool.

I just asking to get the wast box back for an easier work flow.

The wast box is in the windows world a commen tool.

In DXO the waste box was the fastest way to delete a photo (no short key or menue item). I do not understand why stacking could be the solution.

But where would it go ?
