Hendrik, if you’re having trouble in activating try the DNS temporary change, it could solve.
So, is W10 running from a multiple boot setup or in a virtual machine?
If you truly never connect to the internet from W10, you will never be able to activate PL. Or do you connect temporarily to activate?
I bought “maps” from Garmap for my Garmin GPS. They required online activation/download.
I say “required”, past tense, as they closed down and I’m lost all my maps. So it does happen.
They should also call the licence “37 Day Perpetually Renewable” not “Perpetual”.
As a software engineer, I would also add that there are ways to licence sowtware without an internet connection.
When Rhino wants to check the licence, I connect, and immediately disconnect (Rhino allows me to run on various computers wherever I am, so I’m happy with that). Connecting a W10 machine and MS immediately wants to do stuff. I don’t want that to happen as one time the MS update altered the MBR (and I had to reinstall grub with a Linux running from an USB - all my work is at that side - or recently an Intel update from the windows side altered a BIOS setting and the machine went into an infinite boot/reboot cycle).
It was solved by setting it to BST, and adding one hour.
This 37 day nonsense is the main reason that I have stayed with PL7.5
In the past I have had various problems with MS “updates” - “screw up” is a better term. My Graphics computer is set up and functioning the way I want it. Although PL7.5 works well on this computer with an older version of Win 10, PL8 wants the latest version of Win 10 - otherwise, it will not install.
I am not going to mess up my computer just because DXO wants me to. It is Off-Line for this reason.
Exactly. This is also my point.
