All you need to do is to read the EULA and/or the support site before buying it…
If you can’t agree, don’t buy.
Have you even read what you’re linking!?
“is operable in offline mode for a maximum of 37 days”
Thirtyseven days.
So, as I’m writing from the PC which gives that message, that therefore HAS internet connection, that message is absolutely crap (I switch the PC on almost every day, obviously).
Try again!
It’s not about activating the software but about using it.
George
And that’s even worse.
Plus, I’m using it right now.
Why is that crappy message still there?
I’m gonna check my firewall, but something buggy is going on here, I’m sorry if you can’t see it.
Please note that starting with version 7, DxO PhotoLab is operable in offline mode for a maximum of 37 days. A notification will be displayed after 30 days of offline usage, prompting the reconnection to DxO servers
Might I respectfully suggest you try contacting DxO support directly? This is a user forum, rarely visited by DxO and, at present possibly, not active over the current holiday period.
Not necessary, thank you, I solved it by myself.
Opened the firewall for inbound and outbound connections for these two executables:
I write this because it could be helpful for other customers.
I’m very surprised the software didn’t ask me to allow connections for those exe files at install time.
Have a nice Christmas and happy new year, thanks for attention Joanna.
Sorry for my rudeness, but I’m still upset with DxO for all of this.
Glad to see that you solved it. In theory, those folks using a firewall should be aware of how to block and unblock but it would be useful if DxO published which apps to include. Possibly file a feature request?
Bad news, sorry… I was wrong, I didn’t solve.
I thought was solved because message didn’t appear after second, but it still came out after a minute or two.
Will keep investigating more.
Try to switch the firewall off.
George
Tried that, too, same thing!
It seems that DxO software is unable to reach their own server even without any network obstacle within the path.
That would be helpful to know which is that server, for network debugging purposes (I could fire a traceroute and do some other checks against it).
Or their server is off line. Could be too.
George
Hello there.
Take a look at the DNS used either locally on your PC or if it’s supplied by the router.
Change it to 1.1.1.1 or 9.9.9.9 and see if that’s help.
Hi, I can try that, but why should DxO work with Cloudflare or Quad9 DNS adresses and not with the router’s address?
Is there a block on DxO side for name resolving coming from certain ISPs?
No, this is a test to see if your ISP might be having DNS issues.
Well, setting DNS as 1.1.1.1 in Windows solved and allowed Photolab to check the license, thank you Required.
I’m going to check again the license online status verification within other 37 days…
Cool.
Nice to hear you solved it.
That’s a huge annoyance in Photolab since version 7.7.
I strongly dislike / avoid software whose function depends on a license server.
Yes.
For activation, yes I can be ok with that.
But not killing it without a constant recertification.
Simply throw out previous registrations when max amount is reached and add a rate limitation.
