DXO's 2024 Black Friday pricing just released

Agreed about the products being good and the licensing model being consistent.

The one frustration I have is their purposefully splitting some functionality that should really belong in Photolab into VP and FP in order to force sales of those add-ons in order to have a “complete suite”.

Just need to wait for site traffic to diminish.
That’s my theory as well. Black Friday indeed for whoever is in charge of capacity management!

Indeed. Working now for me.

Happy to say my account contains my previous purchases and appears to be ok now.

Went to bed and got up and received my activation codes in email finally  woohoo

I fully agree. Nice for new customers, but not very interesting for existing users.

The statement is true, but the discount on upgrade prices is very disappointing :unamused:

I would say they changed the model in PL 7.7 already, with the connectivity requirement that will quickly render the software unusable should DxO ever cease to exist. A significant change that was slipped into a minor update.

@asvensson , I’m talking about license model, you are talking about license verification. And yes, you are right, this has been changed in a minor update

There is positive movement in this direction. ViewPoint used to be required for basic perspective correction. It no longer is necessary, the core functionality was re-introduced to PhotoLab. If Fine Contrast and Luminance Maps would be moved from FilmPack to PhotoLab, the add-on purchases, would be as they should be, voluntary and no longer a part of core functionality.

It’s just a tiny step DxO to running a clean software business rather than a bait and switch!

What I would like is a licence for embedded versions of ViewPoint and FilmPack, valid for activation in PhotoLab only. I don’t need the stand-alone VP or FP applications.
And for the embedded versions, the price of the licence could be halved, I think! It would also be a good way of promoting PhotoLab as the main software.

Have now got DXO 8 so glad I did even though the discount with Black Friday wasn’t as much as I’d hoped it’s still worth it
Am still learning how to make the most of photolab, have just discovered that you can modify the existing presets and save them as a new one
For example for one particular image the new Natural style worked really well but was overcooked for many others but with a bit of adjustment it’s just right

Same here. :frowning:

I quickly found the ‘Natural’ style was anything but natural. I gave up on it.

Black Friday is gone…and the bundles are here again.
Some of them look like a decent deal, if one considers getting new licenses.
