I tried to enter a support ticket stating the below and, while the “Submit” button was live, it did not work. It would not accept the ticket. No comment on that.
So just on the off-chance that Support is monitoring this forum, I am putting what was intended to be in the Support ticket. DXO cannot say I am not following the process.
I just did what I though was a good thing by updating my PR 6 software from v.6.3 (or maybe it was v.6.4) to v.6.5 and now it does not want to load.
I have installed it twice and “Repaired” it once, rebooting afterwards in all cases - warm boot then cold boot.
On the 2 installs, the splash screen comes up then disappears and nothing else is presented. I checked both the task bar and Task Manager to see if it was running in the background, but nothing was running.
I then tried to install on top of an existing v.6.5 installation to see if I can force a “Repair” and I was able to allegedly do that. After completing that, I tried to start the software and something different happened.
After showing the splash screen it briefly presented a small popup window saying “building the GPU cache”, or something like that. I could not get it to reappear to read it properly. After a brief moment that popup window disappeared, just like the splash screen. I checked Task Manager and there is nothing to do with DXO running. I have left the computer running as I write this just in case the building of the GPU cache is happening secretly in the background and just in case it takes some time. Just clicked on the desktop icon again and again the splash screen and then small popup appears, but the small popup stays for an even shorter instant before … nothing.
Customer Support - PLEASE ASSIST with resolving this issue ASAP. Not only can I NOT use DxO Raw 6, but I cannot uninstall and then reinstall v.6.3 or v.6.4 since earlier versions are removed once a new version is released.
DxO may want to rethink that strategy. This is not the first time that I have had issues after an upgrade, where I was having no issues before.
