DxO PL 7 does not read exif data entered with ExifTool

No pencil near the title!

Maybe because you’re a new (4 days) forum user.

So let’s wait a few days.

ExiftoolGUI doesn’t work as it should. It doesn’t write the right content.

George

Ahah! Do tell.

I changed the exif.lensmodel to “carl zeiss planar 50” and viewed it in ExiftoolGUI.

Then I added f/2.8 to it and here is the result.
Exif.model has become an old lens name I used but exif.model in the right part is the camera name which is unchanged.
Also the content of lensmodel is different from the right part, also an old name I used.

Senza modifiche in ExifToolGUI
MG_2402 Without.CR2 (29,1 MB)

Con modifiche in ExifToolGUI
MG_2403 With.CR2 (26,7 MB)

Did you see in my former post that the field lensmodel in the workspace mnager and in the overview have different names?

George

Yes, so it follows that ExifToolGUI is the culprit? But why does PL not recognize the target and the others do?

It would certainly seem so.

Since ExifTool on the command line works fine, I would suggest that you use that instead.

 exiftool -exif:lensmodel="Carl Zeiss 50mm f/1,7 T*" YourFileName.CR2

Try that on an, as yet, unmodified file.

You might also like to write this up on the ExifToolGUI forum, hosted by ExifTool

The lens is shown in PL7

George

Have you tried any of the modules suggested by DxO?
It’s not about sticking to any “numbers”, but rather about producing meaningful output.

Otherwise, get a supported lens
(always check before buying – software and optics).

.
Please note: I’m not defending anyone’s policies, but you want your “work” done.

but not the F1.7 model the OP is referring to

@Promix
From @Joanna link.

V516, created by Bogdan Hrastnik, is not supported anymore.

The current version 6.3.4 you can download from Releases · FrankBijnen/ExifToolGui · GitHub

I recommend using the installer and choosing the option to install ExifTool from within the installer, but the portable version should also work.

Frank

P.S. Should you still encounter problems with V634, first open the LOG WINDOW, then execute the save. Providing the log info helps a great deal.

I have an old version to. I’ll download a new one now.

But how could @Promix justify that :

The image he posted here did show the lens in PL.

Not on my Mac

Take a look in the ExifToolGUI forum, especially at the last post

Another difference between win and mac?
I did copy that last post from your link in my former post.
