Does DxO off any Special Pricing on Occasion?

I own v9 of NIK, v5 of PureRaw and these are the only 2 eligible for upgrades.

I own v5 Photololab Essential, v3 ViewPoint and v5 of FIlmPack Elite and none of them are eligible for an upgrade. I was thinking of making the switch from Adobe permanently, but man that is an expensive option. I own PureRaw5 and Photolab9 would make that obsolete and $149 for FilmPack is a lot just to get Luminosity Masks.

My Adobe subscription expires in December, do they ever run Black Friday specials (or anything else) when I can actually save some money instead of paying full price to upgrade my software?

I chose to do the same thing as I was tired of paying Adobe for something I hardly use. However, I do not have all the extra products that you have – just PL9.10. So it’s a bit more economically feasible for me. I’l probably have to pay the upgrade to PL10 fee even though I purchased PL9 just two weeks ago.

They have done so every year for many years. It’s when I’ve bought the products I have.

Of course, there’s no guarantee it will happen again this year.

Hopefully.. paying full price for PL9 Elite, is 2 years of Lightroom at the rate I pay. Never have liked LR, but it came with PS. I find myself using PS less and I own a copy of Affinity which I like a litte better and my NIK works fine along with a couple of other plugins.

IIRC last year’s (2025) Black Friday deal wasn’t that great in terms of value to existing customers.

FYI PhotoLab 9 released in early September 2025, again IIRC about 3 weeks earlier than the previous major (PhotoLab 8) release.

So we should be seeing PhotoLab 10 within a month’s time, I would expect.

Yes, you will, but there should be launch offer.

Whether or not you need to upgrade is a separate question. I bought PL9 last Black Friday but I already know I won’t be buying PL10. Regardless of the new features it brings, it just won’t be a cost-effective purchase for me

To already paying customers, do any new features represent the asking price in terms of value?

Would I pay e.g. £100 for just e.g. the addition of generative AI removal/scaling and minor tweaks to the UX/UI, considering the considerable amount I’ve already sunk in to previous upgrades?

It’s probably not worth it.

I appreciate they’re a business and need to make money to stay afloat, but there should be a sliding scale of cost reduction for long-term users.

It depends on how you use PL, FP and VP.

I bought PL2 and then the following year I upgraded to PL3. It was only after I’d done that it dawned on me that was overkill for my needs. Consequently thereafter I’ve only upgraded every two years.

Similarly, even though it means I don’t get the ‘current user’ discount, I’ve always skipped versions of FilmPack and ViewPoint, which means upgrading every four years.

My use of PL, FP and VP just doesn’t warrant a faster upgrade cycle.

Well to put it another way - with the current pricing - I’m less interest in upgrading yearly.

If the upgrade cost to existing users (especially those who’ve been using the suite for many years) was lowered, I’d absolutely upgrade more consistently, rather than questioning the value.

There’s a price point where I’m less against reaching for my wallet, but upgrading the suite (especially if it’s not just PhotoLab but also VP or FP too) is currently above that point.
