Detachable and enlargable histogram and curves palet

A detachable histogram and curves window/palet would be very useful. Also these need to be enlargable. As they are now they are quite useless especially on highrez monitors.

From my perspective, histogram may provide some hints, but that’s rare, and image perception is what I always prefer to use. It’s more important to set your monitor brightness “correctly”. Not sure about your use cases and why do you think it’s important.

On the other hand, it’s quite difficult to tune a couple of points on Tone Curves, if they are all near the origin. This is quite practical for me, e.g. in case of careful deep shadow recovery, if Selective Tones ‘Blacks’ positive values may cause posterization. You get a lot of points near the origin (0,0) and it’s difficult to choose one to correct. Maybe an option to use logarithmic scales or x^(small, like inverse of gamma) would help, maybe local zooming would work. To be honest, I don’t have any simple and practical solution to propose.

Resizable palettes

I’ve just noticed that, if you drag a palette, like the presets palette, from the main window to the desktop or another monitor, even though we would benefit greatly from being able to expand its height to avoid scrolling, that it is impossible to change the size of the palette. I concur with your remark regarding the histogram. Tone curves… (like the histogram) those palets are just way to small for readability and handling of the controlpoints, especially on a high resolution screen. Being able to enlarge them would solve the problem. Not so sure about a logarithmic scale. Readability is needed on all control points on the curve, not just the endpoints.

you can detach it already using the float tool in tool menu R corner. you cant enlarge it though

That is so, as far as I know, only for the histogram, not the curves.

you can “cheat” by creating a new palette and just adding the tone curve (or any other tool you like” to it and the drag in into L side or out as needed

Yes, and the histogram should react faster when moving the sliders for brightness etc.
BTW: In Lightroom, pressing ALT key while moving the sliders shows clipping. That is a simple feature (I think) but so, so helpful.
Of course you can also enable/disable the clipping in PL but I want it just temporary !
(Or maybe there is a trick already in PL? Then please let me know. Thanks-)
