Whatever you used for a backdrop helps bring out the beauty of the things you are photographing. This gets better as I enlarge your photo.
When I saw your “pepper grinder” I started to think of it as a chess piece, with a rook lying down next to it. This thought vanished as I moved my eye back to the other components of the image. Lovely!
