Better support for watermarks?

Hi All,

I used to use Lightroom 4 with a plugin that gave me better control over watermarks than what I’m finding in PL8.

I’m still quite the PL8 newbie, so hopefully people can just point me in the right direction.

Scenario 1

image

Two text watermarks. Right hand side is my branding. Left hand side is specific to this image. Within this shoot I have other images of other models and some images with multiple models. I need to be able to quickly and easily edit the left watermark to incldue the relevant model (or indeed makeup artist, hair stylist, etc, etc - could be multiple rows of text here).

Scenario 2

Two text watermarks again, but different fonts and sizes - first font being custom font installed on my machine. To set this up I needed to set the indents from the corner separately for each watermark. Again, it was a plugin that let you add as many watermarks as you want.

Note - none of the above watermarks use image files.

Hi, Chris. There are several existing feature requests pertaining to watermarks in PhotoLab. Here’s one that closely matches what you’re asking for:

I’m not at home to try but there are two ways to add a watermark, by the customize tab and by the export module.
Can we not add both ?

If it’s possible, use your branding in the export module and that specific to an image in the customize tab

No.
The export option ‘Override watermark with preset’, if checked, lets you select ‘No watermark’ or one of your presets defined in ‘Instant Watermarking’ tool. There’s no option to merge.

You can export with watermark and apply second watermark to the exported file, but that awkward method is good only in emergency cases. Better use ImageMagick, Affinity, etc., if you want something non-basic.

My vote - and notes - have been added. That request was raised 2020 and has had zero replies from DXO. Is it really worth raising feature requests in this way? What, generally, is the development effort from DXO?

Thanks.

For one scenario I will literally need to tweak the contents of the second watermark from one photo to the next. Do your suggested tools handle this scenario? I was of the impression stand-alone watermarking tools are geared around watermarking a whole bunch of images in bulk.

I can’t help you but had the same need ; I have made my own solution by melting a jpeg picture with svg for the frame and the text, as below :

It is pleasant for a printed picture to put in a standard frame, because I adapt the area of the frames and the picture and the font size?

Interesting approach. May I ask how you achieve this?
