The collection feature is driving me nuts, I don’t want a new collection each file I process (pretty much for me) and naming a collection works once and then default behaviour resumes.
It’s terrible - just put me back in lightroom where I was.
There is one silver lining - it’s not as terrible as the “I’m going to switch you back to version 1” every time.
While the collection “issue” is annoying, the one way to deal with it is to
not waste energy on trying to prevent it
delete the collection
Only DxO can say that. It does not necessarily mean that they will deliberately ignore the requests though. Maybe it’s better to address support.dxo.com instead.
Already done months ago. I just hope that they are at least reading the Feature Requests sections. I also tried the Forum Management - Suggestions section of this forum where they sometimes appear.
Support tickets can also be made for feature requests by selecting the respective categories.
And while DxO is checking the tickets and deciding about possible implementations and consequences, we can resort to some workarounds. Due to how long this needs to be done, it helps to stay relaxed.
DxO is not implementing all requested features, they migh be though, depending on how a requested feature fits into DxO’s grand scheme of things.
+100 for me. It’s the #1 reason I have not upgraded to PureRaw4.
Forcing my workflow ‘view’ to the stupid collection it creates is very disruptive. I have to click back thru to my origin folder to continue working on other images. So very annoying.
I have a possible temporary workaround (Windows) allowing to avoid the creation of a new collection. It can be used from a folder or from a collection (although using it from a collection adds a few steps).
Download this LUA Lightroom script Dropbox (Process in PureRAW.lua) and copy it to the Lightroom scripts folder : C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Scripts. Create the folder if it doesn’t exist. Restart LR if it was running. You can alter the name of the script file as you like but keep the .lua extension. You can also insert an ampersand before any character in the script name to get this character underlined in the Scripts menu (e.g. Process in PureRA&W , so you can use the Alt+char combo to trigger the command).
Open the script in any text editor (e.g. Notepad) and make sure that the path to the PureRAW executable is correct. The double backslashes are OK. It’s normal LUA syntax.
When you need to process one of your RAW files in DPR from LR, select it and go to the Scripts menu in LR. This menu doesn’t exist if there’s no script in the above mentioned folder. Select “Process in DxO PureRAW”.
Once the file is loaded in DPR, adjust your settings and make sure that the location field points to the original image folder and that Export is set to Adobe Lightroom Classic.
Once the file has been processed, return to LR. The Import window will be opened. Make sure that the top toolbar is set to Add and import as usual.
That’s it. The DNG created by DPR has been imported and no useless collection has been created. Since the script sends the original RAW to DPR, no existing edit made in LR has been applied to the file sent to DPR. However, previous edits can be applied to the DNG upon return from DPR. Just reset if needed.
Of course, if you run this script while viewing a collection, you will not see the DNG appear there until the file has been imported and added to that collection.
Hope this helps a little while waiting for a fix from DxO.
Worst “feature” imaginable. It would be simple to make the radio button selectable or not and if not selected don’t create the collection and add it there.
