Hello,
I am just starting with DXOPL after years on lightroom and i am very happy with the results!
I am wonderng what is the best way to work on my photos on 2 PC that are in different homes. Is it enough to copy the raws files with their .dop on a External HD to move from a computer to another? I didn’t try that yet because I am afraid to loose my changes or make a mess!
Any suggestion?
Thank you very much.
The easiest way to my mind is to work only with DOP files, so no projects or persistent history. Only use a fast external SSD. And you will need to delete the database before opening PhotoLab after a move
thank you Joanna for your reply. If I understand what you’re saying , I’m sorry I’m still a newbie…
- I put the dop files without the raw on an ssd and I work directly on them?
- Which database is it?
Nope. you put both RAW files on the SSD and work directly on them there. P%L+ will create the DO%P files alongside them.
The one created and maintained by PhotoLab. Look in the Preferences dialog to see where it is stored. There are three files with the same name, all of which need deleting to avoid conflicts when PL reads the DOP files created by the other computer from the SSD.
Thanks a lot, it seems much clearer now. I’m going to try it out
On windows there is only ONE database file.
Make sure PL is NOT runing when you delete the database. Also note that PL will create a new database the next time you run it after deleting the database but it will be empty.
