With the latest Pure RAW 6 update (on 8-17-2026), program will no longer initialize?

I just did a software update (8-17-2026) to DXO Pure RAW, and when all was installed, the program no longer initiates. All you get is the splash screw, which comes up quickly, but nothing after that, nothing. When I look at all the programs that are active in the background, DXO does not show up at all.

This has never occurred in the past (I have both version 5 and 6), and this is the first time that version 6.0 did this. After doing the simultaneous update to version 5, it initiates just fine.

So what I did (so far) is:

Made sure that both version 5 and 6 are allowed through the Windows firewall.

I reinstalled the Version 6 update again…

I unchecked the “read only” block in the windows properties, and also made sure my security settings were set to allow for the appropriate permissions…

I then also attempted to open the program with Administrative Privileges…

I then did a complete uninstall of version 6, followed by a reboot of Windows, and then installed the update again.

Yet all was to no avail - all that occurs is that the splash screen window comes up, but after that, nothing else comes up. I am unable to access version 6. Again, the update to DXO Pure RAW 5 went just fine - it initiates with no issues. It is just version 6.

Please advise - again, this never has occurred previously. I also submitted a support request, but sometimes the advice given on various forums wind up doing the trick.

I am running a clean Windows 11 PC with 96 Gigs of RAM.

After attempting to update the runtime libraries, run the 6.5 installer again—making sure to run it as an administrator throughout the process. Refer to my latest post; I was able to run the program successfully and process images using the discrete graphics card without any issues.

Unfortunately not - again, all that occurs is the splash screen appearing for a second or two, then that disappears and nothing else comes up.

This has become really disconcerting. For the life of me, I can’t figure out what on my PC is doing this as it never occurred previously with any other updates.

Sure, I can just use version 5. But there is something with that update installation package that has resulted in this.

Thanks for your suggestion though…

Ben

There’s a whole bunch of us suffering this Ben. If you can find a 6.4 install from earlier in the year you downloaded then uninstall the 6.5 and install that 6.4 instead as that seems to work OK (obviously you’ll loose anything that 6.5 gives you).

Other than that then raise a support ticket so they know there are increasing numbers of us suffering with their !$%@ software.

Thanks - at first I thought it was an “only me” issue - which is a difficult support request to submit. But knowing there’s a bunch of us affected by this, makes me feel a little better. Let’s see if DXO responds? I would imagine they have to if nobody can bring up the program.

Do you have a link to the install files for 6.4? I can’t find any installers for any previous versions anywhere.

According to DxO EULA, we’re expected to let DxO know of errors.
Here’s from EULA Section 7. Check 7.2 (a)

7 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
7.1 During the Warranty Period, you will cooperate with DxO and provide any necessary assistance to allow us to perform our obligations under this Agreement.
7.2 You will be required to:
(a)        promptly notify us of any Errors;
(b)        provide sufficient information to us to facilitate the effective diagnosis of any Error;
(c) permit us to take such steps as we reasonably consider necessary to remedy any Error.

We are required to report…and the best way imo is a service request.

Nope - I don’t have a link at all. And like a fool, I allowed the downloaded file to overwrite the previous install file.

Well to be fair I let Claude loose on the crash dump file that’s produced when it runs and crashes. Claude is reporting that ProRAW is crashing interacting with a Windows AI dll for my crash, and always crashes in the same place. It’s obviously produced more detail and a nice little pdf I’ve let them have.

So I’m holding up my end of the bargain it’s a shame DxO aren’t holding up there’s. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Well, support got back to me and wanted me to run a Diagnostics application, which I downloaded and ran. They then wanted the resultant files so they can evaluate what’s happening on my system.

Problem is that when you then go to your support ticket to try and attach the file (mine was 58 Megabytes in size), you get the message that the “file is too large, and that 50 Megs are their upload limit.” Well no sh_t Sherlock - what do I do now? The diagnostics file is too large for an email attachment and the site that they wanted me to upload the file to says it’s too large, with 50 megs as their limit. I’ve asked them for further instructions on how to get the file to them.

This is ridiculous…

Odd, mine was only 1.50mb

One of the mails I got from DxO says:

  • If you need to share a large file, … , select “I want to send a large-sized file or diagnostic (> 50 MB)” and submit your request. We will review your request and provide you with the appropriate solution for uploading your file(s).

The long standing upload.dxo.com today brings me to a Nik Collection sales page.

Same here I’m afraid ….. very very annoying:cry::cry:

I have exactly the same issue. I went back to the prior (6.4) version which was still in my download folder. It reloaded and works fine.

That’s just if you plan on making a warranty claim. There’s no way any court would rule you’re in breach of the EULA because you didn’t report an Error, or allow DxO to force you to do something to your computer to “remedy any Error.”

The drafting leaves a lot to be desired.

Good news is the updated 6.5 installer shared in another thread is working for me on Windows. I expect others on Windows would have luck with it.

The temporary 6.5 fix which one of the responders referenced, works just fine - as if nothing had happened. Just downloaded it and everything comes up and all functions perform just fine.

Yes, EULA are for the company’s lawyers. They ask for error reports.
Why not flush reports to them… :person_tipping_hand:t4:

Reply from DXO customer support …

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. This is a known issue with the latest update, and our team is actively working on a fix, which we expect to have ready early this week.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding while our team works to resolve this. As soon as the fix is available, we’ll send you an email with an updated installer so you can get back up and running as quickly as possible.

Kind regards,

James - DxO Labs Support Team

I installed a free trial from Pure Raw 6. It doesn’t work. What did I wrong or what is the problem with the program?

Ich habe das gleiche Problem hier in Germany. Nur handelt es sich um Version 6.5.0. Nach Installation zeigt sich nur der splash screen. Gleiches Problem unter Admin laufendem Windows. Also genau wie bei Ben Herrmann
