I am relatively new to PL. I started with 9.4.1 and I am still at 9.4.1. I’ve done no updates. I’m on a MacBook Pro M1 Max with 32 GB of ram and macOS Sequoia which I also have not updated since purchasing PL.
AI Acceleration is set to Apple Neural Engine by default and has not been changed.
Initially when applying DeepPrime or XD2s or other processor intensive edits there would be lags. Sometimes several seconds to as much as 10. I’m a low volume editor so this wasn’t a real problem. I did have to turn high quality previews off because it was too laggy. Most of my images are 45mp Nikon Z7 nef files and a few Fuji X100V RAF files (which were faster processing of course).
Over the last few weeks almost everything has gotten noticeably faster despite me not making any changes. There is almost no lag using DeepPrime or multiple AI masks etc. Export times have not changed much. Tonight I turned high quality previews back on and there is no lag time. Very snappy
I’m not complaining. I’m positively thrilled. I’m just curious about what happened and how. Any ideas?
At this point I have no intention to upgrade to 9.6 and I am certainly not going to upgrade to macOS 26.
