I’m curious as to what settings everyone uses for processing their RAW files. Do you have one preset you use for everything, or do you do it on a per-photo basis? What do you find works and looks good? Let’s share some knowledge ![]()
Not enough context specified to share the “knowledge” (or experience), I’m afraid.
No need for a new thread. Check out this:
That older thread is for PhotoLab. This one is for PureRAW.
Just knowledge, findings, and advice in general ![]()
For example: what you find works well, what doesn’t work, your preferred settings, etc.
I’m sorry but, what you are asking is going to depend on a myriad factors, including the kind of images you like to make and your own personal artistic or technical sensibilities.
I, for one, rarely use presets, apart from film type which, for this series happens to be Fuji Acros Neopan 100.
But, apart from the film, you would be hard pressed to find two images with the same settings.
yes, hadn’t checked thoroughly.
As for PureRAW, I hardly use it standalone. And almost never as a plugin.
While testing, I reduced lens sharpening to its minimum to prevent sharpening halos. I also set distortion correction and crop so that the image is NOT cut, but completed with black fillers. As for noise, I don’t usually suppress it with the superduper denoising features. I don’t like long processing times and the occasional loss of detail. Reducing the level of denoising and/or increasing details seems to deliver results that are close to something I get with short export times.
Further processing (structure, microcontrast, crop, colours and tones etc.) is done in LrC. Therefore, I set PR to least aggressive in order to prevent effects that I can’t reverse in LrC.
I don’t like PR’s limited renaming options, so I usually keep the original names.
In addition to what the other person said, that thread is very old and also hasn’t gotten any activity for almost a year.
