What happened to the Photo Storm Cape?

Way back in February of 2025, there was an announcement about this product, as part of the offering from the so-called “DxO Photographers Club”.

Not that I would want to buy such an impractical monstrosity but, has anyone else heard any more about this?

I am assuming that subscribing to the club is just another ruse to harvest email addresses.

… heard “I’m blown away”

A search on “DxO Photographers Club” finds this site:

which features the impractical monstrosity. However, when I clicked on the ‘get notified’ button nothing happened. That could be because I have my browser (Firefox) fairly well nailed down regarding cookies and that has crippled the page, or it could be that the site just doesn’t work. Either way, I’m not bothered.

What is fun on that page is this bullet point…

… gets a somewhat bizarre translation when the French page…

… gets translated literally to English.

Pockets (or pouches) for folding lenses

So, as soon as I find a folding lens, I am safe in the knowledge that I can keep it dry

Oh, and they are supposedly waterproof to a depth greater than 10m :diving_mask:

Are you not wasting an awful lot of emotional energy on this piece of DxO nonsense?

Me? I’m still not bothered. My opinion of DxO as a company started low and only has gone down with time.

I do like PhotoLab though but even though in order to remain a ‘current customer’ I should upgrade from PL7 to PL9 the fiasco of PL9’s launch which I have followed on this forum means I’ve yet to even trial PL9.

Not at all. I just found it interesting and amusing and thought it might bring a chuckle to folks.

I can honestly say I’ve never heard of this before in my life!

It did make me smile, and it reduced my opinion of the company a bit further. So that’s a double win

At least they don’t appear to have wasted as much time and money as on the DxO ONE Camera

God has a whole variety of tenants, to take philosophical point of view

I feel like we could make an April Fool’s joke out of this…

I for one look forward to the upcoming DxO Hot Air Balloon:

The DxO Hot Air Balloon harnesses lofty ambitions and a premium payment plan (sold separately) to place photographers in the optimum position to capture those key moments. Rise above the rabble with this fashionable aerial platform and be the envy of all those Capture One, Adobe, and Luminar Neo prolls on the ground!

*(Forgive the AI, I’m not spending much time on this and claim zero responsibility for the “artwork”!)

…looks like the folks are preparing to drop ballast (unsupported cameras) while not realising that they are riding on hot air
