What does the (M) at the end of my filename mean in Photolab 9?

I see this at the end of all filenames in PL9 but it is not part of the actual filename.

You have made a virtual copy of your image ( M like master) and you should have an another picture ( virtual copy) with(1).

Thank you. I do not have any virtual copies so the M seems to be persistent. No issue for me now that I know what it means.

I was a LR user from v1 so the learning curve for DxO feels steep. I am thankful this forum exists.

I haven’t verified, but it may mean that you used to have a virtual copy of that image.

On a Mac, all images have that suffix in the title bar. It just means it is the “master” version

Interesting, The Windows version does not have that feature,

yes it’s true and I prefer it like that, anyway there is no name of the image in the top bar.
Why display an “M” if there is no virtual copy ?

That is

That is my thought as well. It is unnecessary information if there are no virtual copies.

Yep - - If it exists when there’s no Virtual Copy, I’d call it an artifact !

Or perhaps a consistency for the name displayed whatever its status, and having then the same type of display for virtual copies.

I haven’t upgraded to v.9, but I see it at the top on every photo in v.8. Never in my life have I made a virtual copy.
