What does 'Animal' subject AI identify

I recently returned from Africa with a bunch of images of animals in the wild; often predators, many captured singly in good light and alone in the frame. PL9’s ‘Animals’ so-called-AI mask identifies some but not all. Most ungulates in good light it recognizes. Wild dogs, hyena, elephants and birds are pretty easy for the AI, too. Usually it will find a lion.
But oddly I could never get it to identify a Leopard, even when the “subject” selection had no problem grabbing the beast.
Then I discovered that the “AI” considers Leopards to be “flowers”. It almost always finds a leopard as a flower.
Not an association I would have made (nor you, either, I guess). But I can imagine a kind of whimsical logic to it… I guess. The spots, I suppose, have a floral character: as in the oddly mis-titled “Tiger Lily.

The camouflage is obviously working.

Same feature with seals… of course it’s difficult to see seals upon weeds even with sharp eyes. Anyway they appear as “flowers” in PL9. The bad is that they don’t appear as animals, the good is that they are found and identified, whatever the way PL9 finds it…

Instead of using predefined masks just hover over different areas of the image and see what AI identifies. It usually does quite a good job.

Another option is to draw a box around your subject and AI should also find your subject.
