Waterfalls around Goathland, Beck Hole and Grosmont

I had a bit of a mishap when creating some space on my storage drive. I deleted a lot of photos I did not mean to, so I’m revisiting some of those places to recapture the lost images.

When I was in Goathland, the Mallyan Spout and Lythe Beck waterfalls did lack some of their splendour due to the long hot summer starving them of water. Yet I was surprised to find the Thomason Foss put on a decent show and the pool was deep enough for a good swim, unlike the pool at Lythe Beck. That said I do moan when the Mallyan Spout has a good flow, as it often involves West Beck to swell making it an adventure to get to the bottom of the falls, to say the least.

I often find I like both, the blurring of the water and the freezing of the water to capture the droplets and bouncing splashes. Mastering the latter is a work in progress. I do find it more of a challenge.

Thomason Foss-1 was at 1/20s and Thomason Foss-2 was at 1s
