Various non-DxO websites are saying that the cost of VP5 is less than the full price if you are a user of VP3 or VP4.
That’s not true. I have VP3 and when I log in to my DxO Shop account the upgrade price for me is the full price.

Looks like the various sites haven’t checked with DxO before writing their stuff.
DxO is fairly clear about upgrade pricing:
I doubt that, it’s far more likely that they are quoting data supplied by DxO. In other words, while DxO have updated the wording on their website, they haven’t updated the standard text they give out to reviewers, which is still based on their previous policy of offering discounts to users of the current and previous versions.
I can’t see it being long before PL’s pricing policy changes to match that of FP and now VP.
It may also be because VP and FP are released every 2 years unlike PL.
Same for me, I sent a message to customer support; they answered super quickly and gave me a code to upgrade from version 3 to 5 for tghe upgrade price.
I don’t know what happend but for sure the customer support is doing the job.
Same here, but in my case support did not offer any code, they simply stated that the policy had changed and that to go from VP3 to VP5 was full price.
In the software world, renewal sales are usually the most valued as it means customers are retained. It costs a lot more to attract a new customer and get them to the point of completing the sale than to get an existing customer to renew or update.
It seems an odd policy to make update pricing changes which actively discourage ongoing renewal, but I guess DXO have factored that in to their current pricing strategy.
Not for me, they just asked for a screen shot showing where I’d seen the misleading information about VP3 being eligible for a discounted upgrade. I have supplied such a screen shot but silence from Support since then.
The information was so widly used they knew!
Hum strange. Maybe we’re many requesting ?!
I wrote to them today and, of course, I haven’t yet received a reply.
My argumentation :
I bought the PL7>8 + VP3>4 upgrade at the beginning of the month and a week later I receive an email about the release of VP5. You’re asking me to pay €69 to upgrade to VP5, i.e. 2/3 of the price.
This is very excessive, especially as the number of new features for PL8/7 is fairly small and the price of VP3>4>5 is much higher than the price of the licence: 2x€69 compared with €109.
I think it’s reasonable to pay 1/3 of the total price for the annual update, i.e. the full price every 3 years.
They will encourage customers to take a closer look at competing software.
Such a policy is dangerous for a small company…
My problem is solved, I will open a new thread to give some details.
