Useless compare tool in retouch

in PL8 on Mac comparetool in retouch mode is usless ,

in old version compare in retouch mode was showing before and after retouch changes now is showing all changes without geometry, which is even more annoying when working on cropped image.

cant this be reverted to that functionality just to show before and after retouch?

Yes, the compare mode has been changed … and is now much more useful in PL8.

In addition to comparing without/with geometric corrections (the Reference image in PL7), the Master, the Virtual Copy/ies, and the output file/s, you can now select any image as a reference for comparison.

To see your retouching results (before/after), try creating a virtual copy, which also works with the Loupe tool.

Just wait a moment for the Loupe tool preview to load. Then you can instantly switch between the versions. Both previews are cached.

have fun

You didn’t understand my post.
I’m not talking about the compare tool in general, but about comparing when you’re in retouch mode. Try crop image, enter retouch mode and then press compare button. on Mac - Useless!!!.

PL8 retouch tool to remove woodpecker…

In Local Adjustments mode compare has default option “All corections except Local Adjustmens”
It would be great having something similar in Retouch mode “All corrections except ReTouch” (as was in previous versions) and when you going to ReTouch not change zoom.
And have shortcut for show/hide mask.

no problem in PL 8.5.0 windows version :man_shrugging:

see → below …

Here’s a video of compare, working just by pressing the D key, whilst in retouch mode…

this is on Mac on default settings

And what is your point?

is it looks good for you?

I can ask you the same “what is your point?”
I show the problem, even sugested how to solve it,
comment in style “it works for me” doesn’t add anything to discussion.

Since it does work for some of us, what exactly do you think it needs adding ?

Are you editing/retouching croped images?
I know you take great photos but by any chance did you try retouch over or under exposed croped photo and use retouch tool?

Please read my previous comment then you will find proposed solution.

to add

the Compare functionality is described
→ Interface – PhotoLab

and

to illustrate

Local Adjustment = the lightened brush stroke
ReTouch = replaced the man with the lady in the red coat
.

  1. compare → “No corrections (without geometry)”

ref. = preset “6 - No correction” / no crop
    .
  2. compare → “No corrections (with geometry)”

ref. = preset “3 - DxO Optical Corrections only” / crop
    .
  3. compare → “All corrections except Local Adjustments”

ref. = current pic / no LA
    .
  4. compare → “All corrections except ReTouch”

ref. = current pic / no ReTouch
    .
  5. compare → “All corrections except ReTouch”

    → Show Mask = keystroke M ( → Windows)
    .
  6. compare → “All corrections except ReTouch”

→ selecting the Mask = editing mode

.

note – about the zoom level

That is, in split view I can (also) zoom in/out synchronously with the mouse.

do you have that option in Windows version?

grafik

Then why are you commenting on Mac topic?
and what you want to prove?

I said that problem is on Mac version.
Lack of “All corrections except ReTouch”
and no way to disable “show cropped areas” making Useless compare tool in ReTouch mode on MAC

Oh yes, I was waiting for this!

I have read and understood your request, know you are using a Mac, and have provided you with a solution/workaround, but instead of writing to DxO support, you continue to complain here.

What solution/workaround you provided?
Is no “All corrections except ReTouch” option on Mac
Is no checkbox “Show cropped areas” in ReTouch mode on Mac
Is no “Show Mask” keyboard shortcut in ReTouch mode on Mac

I know how to use this software, I’m using it for years.
Your first answer “no problem in PL 8.5.0 windows version :man_shrugging:” was ok in this topic but the next one wasn’t. They did not move the discussion forward at all, in fact, they made this thread less readable.

I started this thread in DxO PL Feature request not in give me any not working workaround section.
I was hoping that more people have problem with this.
But like on almost every forum, also here are self-appointed sheriffs who make forum experiences less pleasant.
