so i tried asking dxo support if the bundled VP 7/FP 4 with PL7 Elite is the same as standalone and what the differences are if any, other than obvious it not being standalone, and support refused to answer my question. just telling me that until its supported on my os they cant say, and PL7 is supported on Sequoia according to there site ?! after about the third back and forth with them i gave up. worst support i’ve had in a while, way to encourage folks to keep renewing license.
See @Gordon’s reply - Unable to install FilmPack on MacOS Sequoia beta - #19 by Gordon
It would seem it is the installer that doesn’t work. FP7 is part of PL7/8 and just needs activating.
I can’t see any difference in functionality, just arrangement of tools.
I do have both activated in PL7, but as per my message what i wanted is some official clarification on the bundled/activated version and whether there was any difference and whether updates to PL7 automatically bundled in updates to FP/VP. they refused to answer.
updates to PL7 won’t update VP and or FP. best thing to do is not even update from the software itself but you login to your account on dxo website to download the update, doing from the software itself often crash for unknown reason.
when dxo launched PL8 they also released updates for all their software, VP and FP latest update on sequoia crash and won’t install, it’s not supported by dxo yet, but an update should come out later in October from one of their staff response.
I’m happy to report that I was able to install the latest updates to FilmPack and ViewPoint, both of which seemed to have had installer issues previously. It appears DxO has fixed this issue.
I was able to install FilmPack, but it crashes immediately when I attempt to launch it.
did you launch filmpack after installing to see if it work?
seem that spy-hardman have some issue.
Edit: I should add that as far as ViewPoint is concerned, I am still on version 4. I see now that v5 has come out, but I haven’t upgraded yet.
@mikerofoto I did indeed. Both FilmPack and ViewPoint appear to be working just fine on my end.
I just installed it again today and the installer finally worked. The window appeared to be frozen for about 10 minutes. After that it became responsive out of a sudden. I used it for a while, then closed the app, opened it again and so far it hasn’t frozen again.
went to update VP4, FP7, Nik6 and PL7 with their new released update from yesterday.
came with lot of surprise, mac sequoia firewall alerts from dxo attempt to unauthorized system folder access, my network proxies alerts warning of unauthorized network access settings and more.
what’s going on DxO, spying on users by hiding trackers and accessing their network settings to cover your trace? I’m getting really concerned from all those alerts, no software gave me those alert ever because none of my other software track me and my doing!
Those are simply warnings which macOS sequoia displays for apps not previously recognised - the signatures are new as it was a new install.
Any apps trying to communicate, scan local networks for services etc will trigger these in macOS.
So did my DAM system as it wished to connect to my Postgres server hosted in my LAN.
that’s not a new install, it’s an update to software already installed.
it wasn’t looking for connection to network but trying accessing my network settings and that’s the reason i got that alert, multiple failed to access network administration login.
dxo software are the only software giving me these alert ever since sequoia, none of all other software pop me alerts and warning.
I am on Sequoia 15.0.1. I have not gotten any alerts in regards to any DXO software. I currently have PL8, FP7, Nik7, PR4 and VP5 all installed (including standalone apps).
Tom
Every new build/compile generates a new signature.
call it coincidence then, because i updated davinci and it didn’t pop any alerts.
yesterday, I download FilmPack and the problem was solver. Thank you
