Trying photolab trial. what am i doing wrong?

hi everyone. i have activated and utilized pureraw trial with great success and made my indonesia album with it+lightroom. now i’m considering buying photolab since it has the same denoising feautures. or does it? i’m having trouble recreating the same denoise+sharpness effect i did on pureraw. what am i doing wrong here? sadly i don’t remember the pureraw settings i used but heres a comparsion between my dng edit (nothing else) with pureraw, and the edit with photolab. if i do less noise starts coming in (it is a 16.000 iso image) and if i do more i kinda destroy it. the pureraw image was perfect tho. why is that?

top is photolab, bottom is pureraw

Have you tried comparing the exported images? I don’t believe the preview version that PhotoLab shows you will be identical to the exported image when you’re done with it.

Try exporting the PhotoLab copy and see if that’s the same as what you see here?

It’s also possible that you do not have the “Enable DeepPRIME Rendering” setting turned on for viewing images in the PL9 browser.

For Windows (which I believe you’re using, based on your screenshots) it’s settings → Display → Viewer Quality → check the “Enable DeepPRIME rendering” setting.

Without this turned on, you will only see the advanced denoising when using the Loupe or exporting the final image.
