Trying and applying Presets

Hi, newbie question… if you apply a preset to an image and then choose another preset, does it ‘remove’ the first preset and then apply the second? Or does is apply the second preset ‘on top’ of the first preset?

It will replace the previous preset. However, each control is handled individually, for example you can have a preset that only adjusts curves, then the curves will be overwritten, but all other adjustments remain.

It is explained here in the section of ‘partial presets’:

Awesome. Thank you.

Yes but… @ChrisH take note…

What @maderafunk said is true if the presets are full presets. However, if you are using a partial preset, that will be applied ‘on top’ of the current settings.

If you search this forum for partial presets you’ll find lots of topics:

That’s what I tried to explain in the sentences that followed the first sentence that you quoted.

I specifically wrote replaced and not on top, as Photolab does not support true on top presets. For example in Apple’s Aperture, it was possible to have exposure set to ‘1’ in an image, and adding a preset with exposure ‘2’, you could choose wether you wanted to replace the current setting of ‘1’ to ‘2’, or if you wanted to have it on top, changing ‘1’ to ‘3’. This is unfortunately not possible in Photolab.

Sorry, yes, I didn’t read your post correctly.
