Thumbnails not showing

I recently downloaded and started to use Pure6 after long term of use of Pure3 and am astonished at the difference. However, I have a problem with the displaying of thumbnails in Windows Explorer they do not show when using the compressed mode. I have tried a number of Raw file viewer programs and none work for me, has anyone else struck this problem?

Yes, see this and subsequent posts:

I contacted Dx0 regarding this problem and they basically told me to use Tiff or the larger files as ‘a work around’ as one of the main reasons for me upgrading was to use the smaller dng files it was not a satisfactory answer, no mention of an upgrade just basically bad luck for me.

As long as windows is not supporting compressed DNGs, DxO’s advice to use (16 bit) TIFF is your best option for further processing. Or keep using PR3 until Wins supports the format.

I didn’t realise it was a Windows problem, this means that no one with Windows 11 will be able to use this feature

Yes, that’s the same response that I got. In other words, it’s a Windows issue rather than a DxO one. It is mentioned in the small print. Luckily I found out using the trial version. We have to wait for Microsoft to decide to support the format or for an add-on to be developed.

It doesn’t mean that. It just means that these files are not visible in Windows. What I have done is lobbied my photo editing software house (ACDSee) to include the format in their next update (I have sent sample files), so then I shall at least be able to use the compressed DNGs. So it’s really a matter of time now. I have also sent sample files to Serif/Canva (Affinity). I believe ON1 already supports the format.

Yes, or use the uncompressed format. It’s disappointing that they won’t lobby Microsoft (I have had a long conversation with them over this), but we can all lobby our photo editing software houses - ACDSee and Serif/Canva (Affinity) have sample files from me, so are aware of the issue. ON1 already supports the format.
