Hi,
I bought ViewPoint 5. I use the software on a Mac Mini M4.
I manage my images in Excire Photo and transfer them to external photo software for editing.
This also works with ViewPoint. The photo is transferred but when saving the image after editing, ViewPoint does not suggest the correct directory. It only remembers the last directory used. This makes little sense because I don’t want to remember where the image is saved.
Is this normal in ViewPoint.
In the standalone version of VP (Windows version), you can save your changes by overwriting the original. – To avoid this, use the “Save As” option. You can then change the name and/or save location/folder.
That is correct. I want to save the file name with an addition DXO in the file name in the same directory. But it is absurd that I have to tell the computer where this photo was originally located.
I also jump into Radiant Photo 2 and that program has no problem with it.
It definitely feels like an extra step that shouldn’t be there, especially when other editors like Radiant handle it automatically. It sounds like ViewPoint is defaulting to the ‘last used’ path rather than the ‘source’ path. Have you tried checking the Preferences/Settings to see if there’s a toggle for ‘Save to source folder’? Sometimes these standalone apps have a hidden default buried in the menus.
