I get no support of Raw M and S when looking up my camera model. I see no explanation for what this means. I need to know before purchasing. Here is a screenshot. Thanks!
This is a user forum, DxO are not likely to respond to anything you ask of them here. Meanwhile, DxO’s official line on these formats is here:
You really, really, should download the free trial of PL and try it out before you part with any cash. If you don’t, then ‘buyer beware’.
sRAW and mRAW formats are downsampled versions, so partially processed. Note the reduced pixel dimensions. With these formats, the full “RAW” data that DxO uses for their optical and noise corrections is not available, hence not supported. This article explains Nikon, but same for Sony, Canon, etc.
The Lossless -compressed format (Large compressed) is the “RAW” data, so can be used.
Fully agree and recommend to test carefully, also if FilmPack and ViewPoint add functionality you expect.
@Treeshot
My recommendation:
- test PhotoLab for one week (without FP and VP)
- activate the ViewPoint trial and test (the combo) one more week
- activate the FilmPack trial and test (the combo) until you feel you can decide
- Review your findings and decide to buy or not buy
Note
- that the FP and VP trials can be started from within PhotoLab, no need to download the separate apps.
- that you can switch steps 2&3 to your liking or respective need and interest.
