Support for Sony 50-150 f/2 GM

When is this Sony 50-150 f/2 GM lens going to be supported by PhotoLab?

I have owned it since March 20th or so (correction: May 27th, this is my mistake, but I promise I was just mixing up the months) , and taken 88,625 shots with it.

Yet even though PhotoLab had a big update in April, and a few updates since then, even now after several more months since the lens came out, this lens is listed as a broken camera icon and unavailable in PhotoLab.

It’s a waste of all of its potential for me to edit all those raw photos, and without any kind of special lens profile for it.

Update: I did indeed say the wrong month. May is the correct month I received it, not March.

However, that does not excuse the people who said “This, plus other comments, bring your credibility down to zero, I’m afraid.”

I have made only two mistakes in my comments on this forum, and both times I fully admitted I was wrong.

As far I know, everything else is correct.

I am disappointed that this forum is being lurked in by mean people instead of helpful people.

Check in ‘General news & announcements’ category - it’s in the plan.

How come? The lens was announced on April 22, 2025, available only since June – see e.g. Sony Launches FE 50-150mm F2 GM .
This, plus other comments, bring your credibility down to zero, I’m afraid.

I am deleting my harsh words in the post. I did make a huge mistake in my post.

I am reading it again and face palming, I said March instead of May.

Wow. That is almost 600 shots a day, 7 days a week, for the last 5 months. I wonder where you find the time to view and cull out the ones you don’t want to keep much less edit the keepers. Sorry, I can’t help you with when this lens will be supported. I assume you requested support via the support database. If not, here is the link.

Thank you! You are a million times more helpful than the other guy.

I am not a Sony shooter so I don’t know if the lens mentioned in the link I’ve attached is the same lens as yours, or whether the release date mentioned was accurate but I thought I would pass it along to you. It is from Sony Europe and the release date mentioned is April 22, 2025 with availability in June 2025. The release date in the United states seems to be the same, although it was not clear when it would be available in the US. My apologies if this is not your lens. If it is the model you have, were you able to acquire a prerelease copy.?

I apologize for my upset language in the first post about why the lens is not supported.

I’m just editing a big shoot with this lens, yet again, and it’s extremely frustrating why it still has no lens profile after all these months.

I simply wonder what’s going on and why a crucial lens model is not supported more quickly.

I literally check for app updates every day multiple times hoping that they will add a lens profile for it.

I can still edit, just nothing that requires a lens profile using this lens.

Which I know makes my photos miss out on some of the secret sauce of DxO’s technology.

As far as the June release date, that info is incorrect.

I did not get a pre-release copy AFAIK. I had one to use at least by the last week of May.

The 20th is the date that my mind remembers, but that could be my order confirmation date rather than the delivery date.

Why are you looking up news articles about the lens trying to “discredit” someone who is asking questions, anyway?

The delivery date was the 27th of May.

Thank you for your help. At first I was upset when you attacked my credibility to be honest, but I did not realize I had misspoken and said the wrong month.

I found the post you mentioned ( DxO Software - New Cameras & Lenses support (10 June 2025 update) - #891 by Marie ) which I would not have been able to without your expertise.

And I feel a lot better now knowing that hopefully soon the lens will be supported, since I use it so much.

While I can’t give you a definitive reason this specific lens has not been supported yet, I can tell you that on average it takes two to three months for a newly released lens to be supported once the lens becomes available. Support by DxO requires access to a loaner copy of the lens. The number of loaners available in Europe and the number of other testers also waiting for a copy of it to test can further impact how long it takes for support to be added. This is further compounded by the timing. New camera/lens support is not provided in July and August as DxO finalizes the release of the new version of PhotoLab which should be available in September.

I just checked @Marie’s most recent post on upcoming support and found that support for your lens will be added in the second group of lenses this fall. It is unclear exactly when that will be.

Thank you very much! You are truly helpful!!

Is there a way to mark this question as being “answered” so that it doesn’t need to stay open?
