September 30 Module Release

I have a Canon R7. According to this page: De nouveaux Modules DxO pour améliorer la qualité d'image de votre matériel - DxO the release includes the Sigma 10-18 f2.8 DC DN for the Canon RF-S mount. However, when I search the database, I can’t find modules for any Canon cameras for that lens. Also, when I upload an image into PureRAW 3.2, no module is loaded, implying it does not exist. Is it possible to find out exactly which modules were included in the September 30 release for Canon RF-S cameras and that lens?

Welcome to the forum @Ian99

Looking into the module database of PL9, I found this:

DxO supports the lens on the R7. BUT…
…PureRAW 3.2 might be too old … and updating it can possibly do the trick

Do you also use other DxO apps? Which?

Thanks Platypus - that’s very interesting. The only other DXO software I use is Nik Collection v7. I could get a trial of PureRAW v5 to see if is included there. I need to check the hardware requirements first though. I will let you know how I get on. I do think this might be the answer though I wonder why it doesn’t show up at all in the camera / lens database, especially as you can see it in PL?

PureRAW 3.2 is an old version of PuR 3. I’d not test PuR 5 just yet.

UPDATE: PuR 3.20 does NOT support the Canon R7 - Sigma 10-18mm combo. It does for other cameras though. Maybe DxO will update at a later time.

HACK: I replaced PuR’s module database with the one from PhotoLab 9 and PuR did NOT crash on restart. Whether that will fix your issue, I cannot say…and if it did, it would be a dead end street until DxO updated PuR’s module DB. DxO has different versions of module DBs and attaches them seemingly erratically to their products.

If you think of upgrading…I’d seriously recommend that you test PhotoLab instead. Don’t hurry though, because DxO might update the module DB of PuR 3 and Black Friday discounts are waiting around the corner. PL costs more than PuR, but it is DxO’s flagship after all and PuR is like a raft in comparison. There’s a caveat though: PL introduced AI masking which raised hardware requirements noticeably and which needs some serious polishing imo.

Beware: The PL9 trial has Elite edition features, don’t buy Essential after testing!

I think I know what’s going on now. PL has the module, no version of PR has it. Tech support just confirmed the two apps are updated with a specfic camera / lens module at different times. I appreciate your proposal to look at PL instead, but I have too much time invested in Affinity, it’s better to just wait for the module to appear in PR. I hope it will be supported in 3.2 - I can load the R7 / Sigma 18-50 in that version and I won’t have to worry about hardware! Thanks for your interest and advice on this @platypus - getting to the bottom of the problem has been quite drawn out and painful!
