Resize Image Within Boundary

When I export, I get the option to either choose the short or the long side. BUT what if I don’t know which I need. For example, I need an image to fit within a boundary of 3840 by 2160. I don’t know if adjusting the long side will mean the short side will fit.

It would be great if there was an option for this. Please!

(selected long side)/(original long side)=(selected short side)/(original short side)

(selected shortside)=((selected long side)(original long side))*(original short side).

Or, the long side will change with a factor (selected long side/original long side). Use the same factor for the short side.

You’ll have to calculate it yourself.

Welcome to DxO’s User forum, Richard …

There is an option for this (tho, I accept that it’s not at all obvious);

Use Resizing Mode = Rotate to fit

Many thanks for that, I’ll trundle off and have a look.

I didn’t know that one. Just wondering why it’s called ‘rotate to fit’. It doesn’t rotate and is orientation sensitive.
In this example there is a landscape box 3840x2160. Rotate to fit to 3840x2160 gives another result as 2160x3840.
Also when I rotate the image 90 degrees and keep the box 3840x2160.
