Recommended alternatives to lightroom for cataloging & integration with DXO

What do you mean by offline ?

Pascal

I only bought it last year. I think it is free, but check out their website.

cheers, k

Means if I have photos on a network drive, I cannot access them unless the network drive is online.

Cause some DAM would store thumbnails so that even when the network drive is offline, the images are still “showable”.

Cheers.

Not really, that’s why I asked how much would it cost…

https://www.idimager.com/upgrade-policy

All products on this website are sold with free updates for a main version life cycle with a minimum period of 3 months. This means that when you buy version 4 you are entitled to receive free updates until version 5 is released. If version 5 is released within the first three months following your purchase, then this version upgrade will be made available to you as a free upgrade.

After the free version upgrade period or cycle expires, you can upgrade from the previous main version to the latest release main version with a 30% price discount off the regular sales price.

Only the latest main version receives updates.

Something like DXO. You do not need to upgrade every cycle but eventually if you add new cameras or other OS updates, eventually you will need to. I will update every major release not for new features, but to make sure the rising tide does not leave me behind.

Yep, me too, Jim.

Since the latest update Neofinder now can also tag raw files directly

Write XMP Metadata directly into NEF, CR2, FFF, and 3RF RAW photo files, and read that metadata when Cataloging

This is one of the main reasons I wrote my own DAM was to be able to add keywords directly to RAW files. I know some folks are either scared of damaging the files or think that it “violates” the non-destructive nature of the files but, since Nikon themselves do it and I have never had corruption in many years, I have found it makes life so simple as I can even use macOS Finder to search for them and, what’s more, there is no need for XMP files.

I tried with NX Studio the latest App.
But they now create a Nikon sidecar file.
I guess they do not write to raws anymore.

If I remember well it used to work with Capture NX, right ?

@Joanna , it’s high time you published your app. You keep telling everyone about it over and over again, but how should average Joe(lle) be able to do what you did?
