Re: PL 9.5 stable and 'ready'?

Hi all

I have been away for a while and am catching up, so to speak……

Summary:-
W10 pro with RTX 3060 12GB VRAM currently on nVidia Studio Driver 581.57 and PL v 9.2.0

So, I note that I am 2 versions of studio driver behind and obviously out by a couple of PL updates to PL 9.5

Therefore, just seeking a bit of reassurance that I can go ahead and update both the driver to the Jan 5th 2026 version and to PL 9.5……………..and be reasonably sure that I will not experience any surprises, or at least not of the ‘scary’ variety…..only good stuff by way of improvements to PL

TIA for any insights & thoughts on this matter

It’s anybody’s guess, some people report problems, other say all is well.

As long as you keep the installers, you can always revert to a previous / stable-for-you. If you don’t keep the installers for old versions, now is a good time to start doing that.

PL 9.5.0.610 with NVidia Studio driver 591.74 is running quite stable here.

Thanks guys for the replies and ínsights

I am a bit of a pack rat i.e. I keep all installers but I missed out on doing this with v9.4 and from what I have read IIRC that is no loss

I have as mentioned v9.2.0 running and have these other ones available……

9.0.2
9.1.0
9.2
9.2.1
9.3
9.5

So, when I have the time I will install v9.5 and see for myself how stable it is and all being well benefit from the bug fixes & improvements

Personally I’m not updating anymore. It’s stable right now and I don’t trust them anymore. I’m not getting a new camera anytime soon, what’s the point?

My hope is that the Ai masking improves and there is some performance optimisation. On that basis there is a point,

For the first time in months I made the mistake of trying the flower AI. Errer it just doesn’t work for me still, select an area no issues. Had to reboot in the end and remove all edits to stop it. Improved yes but not right yet as my desk PC meets the minimum specification.

It also misses obvious skies. Yes, there is a way to go on masking and performance but at least it is now usable.

Didn’t find the one I tried, flowers, usable today

For non-AI masks it works very stably (1,000 raws/directory + DP3/XD2s exports).
