I last used PureRaw 2 nights ago with the latest version then and it worked fine. I installed the latest version 6.2 when prompted about 1/2 hour ago and the installation went fine with no prompt to reboot or anything.
Problem is, the processing of the same size and grade of files as 2 nights ago are punishingly slow to process. What used to take under a minute 2 nights ago is now taking like 10x as long (I think … the file that is being processed as I type this is still not done!).
I did not have System Restore on my Windows 11 PC active so I don’t have a restore point so that I can roll back past v.6.2.
Any ideas what I can do to get back some speed? I will reboot after I send this but was not asked to by the installer.
Any way I can get the previous version back?
Incidentally I just clicked inside the blue progress circle for some reason and it dropped back! So it is going to take even longer now!!
I rebooted and tried the same file that is yet to complete and it is still not progressing. There is no change to the performance. It is as if the program is stuck. Here are the settings:
None of these were changed after I updated the software so I would think that this was what they were before the update.
Please advise … now 15 minutes have passed and the weird progress circle is getting higher (never did understand what those numbers meant … they are not elapsed time, or time remaining … )
Finally one finished! Took over 10x as long as previous version, and that is after I deselected the lens that it had pre-selected and went with “Other” so I suppose reducing the amount of work it had to do …
This is not good folks. Same machine, same multitasking load, same batch of photos, same camera, same lens … as 2 nights ago when each image took like under a minute to process.
Ron - thanks for the tip. That did help and it is sort of back to its previous speed.
Thing is, I do have the following integrated graphics - Intel(R) Arc™ Graphics (128 MB) - and had the previous version set to that and accomplished the 1 minute processing time. Earlier I retained that setting after upgrading the software and got the poor results I did. Now for the first time I am using this AI Boost and am getting what I got before.
Weird. I still think something is off with this release. I have asked Tech Support for a link to download the previous one and will report back if I get it and what the results are.
If you check close you will see that PL 9.8 and maybe 9.7 also uses AI Boost on laptops like the Surface. Before that, it used the integrated INTEL GPU. I use IntelGraphics Software that shows the parts being used. The parts are selectable. I include the GPU usage and noticed that it dropped off drastically and double checked my suspicions with the similar Program brought up with the CTL DEL key combination and clicked on Performance, There I saw that the NPU (AI Boost) was being used.
My wife brought up the long time being required to process a single. I tried one of my photos with the same result. Switched to AI Boost and it speeded up. Problem Solved!!!
I experience the same problems after the installation of version 6.2. All of a sudden the program is very, very slow - in fact unusable. I have read the recommandations of Ron but cannot find a Performance chapter in windows Taskmanager. Perhaps you can give me some more detailed information. Thanks beforehand, Wout
On my Surface Pro this is for finding what’s being used and for changing anything. First use the Control Alt Delete combination, then click on Task Manager. I see Processes, Performances, which I click on and a page comes up with:
CPU, Memory, Disk (with designation), Wifi, NPU and GPU. It shows the use of each function. Click on which use you’re interested in to see a full window.
What you may be looking for is a way to select AI Boost. If so this is where you go to do that and it is in Pure Raw 6.2.
On the top border you should see Files, DXO Modules and Help. Click on Files. I see Add files . Add folders, Preferences and Exit
I click on Files. I see Language below it is Deep Prime Acceleration. I click on Deep Prime Acceleration “box” and see
Auto Selection …, Intel AI Boost, GPU Intel …and Use CPU only.
I click on Intel AI Boost to select it then click on Save
Restart Pure Raw 6.2 and I see much better performance. I also select Instant Preview which may affect your performance but I like “Instant gratification”.
I was just on my Dell which I think upgraded to Win 11. It has a different page for task master. Performance is an icon that looks like a tv screen with a trace across it like an ocilloscope.
I hope this helps you if you have that page in task master.
microsoft/windows is confusing when they upgrade using old pages on updates.
Hi everyone,
We’ve identified the issue affecting PureRAW 6.1 and 6.2 on systems with Intel integrated GPUs (iGPU) and Intel Arc GPUs. On these configurations, processing may fall back to the CPU instead of using GPU acceleration, resulting in significantly slower export times.
Our development team is working on a fix, which we plan to include in an upcoming update.
In the meantime, if your system has an NPU, you can select it manually in the processing settings as a temporary workaround.
Thank you for your patience and for the reports that helped us pinpoint the root cause so quickly.
Very pleased to see DxOStaff are actually monitoring these fora and have taken action on this issue. Kudos to them. I am happy to have spent my money on a company that actually pays attention and acts swiftly.
Also very slow on my M1 Pro laptop. I looked in Preferences and it was set to Apple Neural Engine. I don’t know what it has been in the past. I’m trying “GPU Apple M1 Pro”. To be clear is this change what you are suggesting, or is there something else?
I use a Windows/MS Surface and I got a “New Intel Driver ready for upload.” notice and uploaded both files one for NPU or AI Boost and the other for IntelGraphics Software. I just processed a CR3 raw photo in PL 9.8 and for the first time in a while it used the selected Intel Graphics in my Preferences and seemed fast enough for th Surface I use.
I just tried the Intel internal GPU and it still takes so long I aborted then selected the AI Boost and it still is about as fast as before. I had hopes for GPU speed but not to be on my Surface.
I checked what was being used by using task manager and with GPU selected it reverted to CPU.
I’m very happy you found a solution to solve this problem. I will patiently wait untill version 6.3 will be launched and I am very hopeful that I will be able to use the program again with the original speed of version 6.0. Thanks again.
The problem is this: the trial period is only 14 days with no option for another period. The time you fixed the problem, my trial period has long expired. No option for another test. At the moment I see this:
PureRaw 6 is 10 times slower that PureRaw 5 (7:45min vs. 0:45min). The results are virtually identical. The new dust removal does nothing, at least I cannot recognise anything. So, apart from a 10 times speed reduction there’s nothing new (and BTW, only 50% of my CPU power is used).
If you then say “bug fixed”, you cannot/will not provide me another trial period.
Under these circumstances, I’m not going to upgrade. Sorry!
