I believe that the best way to use PureRaw is to process images through it before editing in other software.
Nikon NX does not allow processing of DNG files so the only PureRaw output format that can be used is TIFF. NX Studio will process TIFF files but then the proprietary Nikon adjustments, such as ‘Picture Controls’ are not available.
So it appears one would have to initially use NX Studio to incorporate the Picture Control settings, convert to TIFF then process the TIFF with PureRaw, followed by opening again in NX Studio and completing the editing.
Or is there another way around this workflow?
PureRAW only accepts camera-original RAW files (or such files converted with Adobe DNG Converter into DNG).
I believe the Picture Controls are basically presets, which probably rely on acting directly on the Nikon RAW files.
You could, in theory, create your own presets to mimic these, but that’s a lot of work (and knowledge) required.
There are other threads in these forums that touch on similar desires. The fundamental problem is once you use PureRAW, you no longer have a RAW file and so any other tool that insists on one is going to give you problems.
Lightroom opens the Linear DNGs generated by PureRAW but it may not allow all adjustments.
