First time poster and certainly not an expert. I’ve had DXO for a while with PureRaw 4 and 5 and now upgrade to 6. I assumed that all new software would be hard on GPU’s so I updated mine to an NVIDEA RTX 3060 12gb and also downloaded their latest driver. I use a Nikon D500 and process through LrC. Let me start off by saying that I am absolutely amazed with the quality of the file when returned to LrC by PureRaw 6, absolutely stunning. What I am not so pleased about is the very annoying situation that I find myself in, when after making the corrections in PR6 and then hitting the ‘Process Now’ button, well I can only describe what happens next is the exact opposite to ‘truly amazing’. I have never seen a computer suffer from so much confusion? After clicking on Process Now, the counter slowly but surely counts upwards until approximately the 13minute mark and then has a think about things for a random time, then the display graph bounces a couple of times and then drops quickly until is is no longer visible and after a few seconds it returns to LrC. This whole ‘Process Now’ situation takes between 3-5minutes. Well I did a quick bit of research and ‘everyone’ was suggesting that the GPU had to be in charge and running a maximum performance!
Well I went through my computer and everywhere that I could find any mention of, either, CPU or GPU, I opened it up and made sure that the GPU was running at maximum performance. I then restarted the computer to make sure that any changes would be working. Well the improvement was better but certainly not great, I’m still waiting between 1-3minuste for the process to return my image to LrC.
it seems to me that having to run your GPU absolutely flat out, just to carry out the changes to small APS-C sized (20mp) RAW file, is trouble waiting to happed? My computer is a Lenovo tower, with Windows 11, 32gb of ram NVIDIA RTX 3060 GPU and all drives are SSD.
Hope that you guys can help me out with getting the Process Now issue fixed and reduce my GPU from a screaming mess down to a happy little chappie?
I’m afraid the 3060 isn’t a super-fast graphics card so if your CPU is also not “super” it may be that you’re one of us unlucky ones who find DxO software increasingly slow with recent releases (although 3-5 minutes is insanely slow - my 10+ year old system takes about 20 seconds to export a picture from PhotoLab 9 from a ~20mp Canon R6).
It’d also be worth posting any options you have set in PureRaw too? I’m not sure how it compares to PhotoLab but in PL you can set it to use just the CPU or GPU for rendering. If set incorrectly this can also lead to slowdown.
Before processing, start Task Manager, Select Performance > GPU, and watch ‘Dedicated GPU memory’, ‘Shared GPU memory’, ‘Utilization’. If ‘Dedicated GPU memory’ is near maximum and ‘Shared GPU memory’ starts to grow, there might be some performance problem. Also check Memory tab, ‘In use’ and ‘Committed’, and make sure your swap settings are ‘auto’.
Maybe LrC is consuming too much or you have some other software running, which consumes GPU resources. Try to run PR standalone. RTX 3060 12GB is fast enough to process your 20mpx raws in less than 10 seconds, I guess (for Fuji X-Trans sensors it can take longer). I assume you are on Win11 24H2 or later.
I am having a similar issue…the first 3 or 4 times I run pureraw6 from LRC using file/process extras/process instantly with DXO pure raw6 it runs as expected…takes maybe 20 seconds to process file and have it displayed in LRC. HOWEVER, after that it slows down dramatically as it now it’ll take 2 minutes….as soon as that starts to happen it seems to take longer with each time I run the option. The issue exists with all version of Pure Raw 6. Nothing changes. It is using the correct video card. BTW, I run Dell XPS 15 9510 i9 with Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 Ti with latest drivers…any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating.
I’m still having problems and I’ve been in touch with DXO and they sent me a program to run that makes up a zip file that has to be returned to them. I’ve heard back from them, about 4-5days ago, that they’ve received the zip file, and I’ve heard nothing from them since. Sorry mate, I can’t help you with any good advice at this stage, because I’m still waiting, and waiting, and waiting. . .
