Problems with last version when launching from photoshop

When launching from palette or as a filter I see the splash screen, but the app doesn’t open. When attempting from the palette, I do see a new layer created, but at that point, I have to flush Photoshop. I did not uninstall version 8.1. I have rebooted to no avail. I see the same behavior when trying to use stand-alone. I have reinstalled to no avail. Anyone else having issues?

Have the same problem - i have tried uninstalling, using the clean-up tool, rebooting the pc and then reinstalling a fresh copy of Nik Collection 8. Still just get splash screen and nothing moves from there. Have tried from Filter menu, palette and plugin menu - no joy. Using Photoshop 27.0 and beta 27.1 - same on both.
Glad I’m not alone tho…

I also used the cleanup tool to no avail. I opened a ticket with support, and they have responded, so hopefully a fix is on the way. I wish I could download a prior version of release 8, but that is not offered on the dxo site. I’m kicking myself for cleaning up my earlier downloads.

I have the same problem. Version 8.1 works but not 8.2. Uninstalling 8.1 and applying the cleanup-tool have no effect.

During installation (after using the cleanup tool ), I selected the Photoshop 2026 ‘Plug-ins’ folder, which resulted in ‘Custom Host’ being displayed in the installer window’s host application box. This did the trick. To also be able to use the NIK Collection with the Photoshop beta version, I manually copied the DxO3 folder from the Photoshop 2026/plug-ins folder into the same folder in the beta app’s structure.

Same problem here. Ticket raised and I have asked for instructions on how to uninstall and go back to 8.1

Same problem. Any solution yet?

I’m having the same problem. Is anybody at DxO working on the issue?

I raised a ticket and DxO suggested I uninstall Nik Collection and then install it again with a new download from my customer account. I did this and it fixed the problem for me. Nik Collection now runs ok.

It looks like I’m a bit late to this party; I finally got sufficiently annoyed about this issue to submit a ticket today. Waiting to hear back from DxO.

I uninstalled it and installed it again with a new download from the DxO site. Unlike @Kerloch, this didn’t work for me.

This is insane. Having the same problem and no luck with uninstalling, cleaning, or installing as a custom host. So basically I’m locked out of editing my file now!!! What should I tell my client? They’re expecting revised files ASAP!!

Hi Folks. Today I received a link to a “hotfix” for the issue with Nik 8.2. This fix has resolved the problems I encountered with version 8.2. They’ve entitled the fix Nik 8.2.0.4. Hopefully the rest of you will get the fix and it’ll work for you.

regards,

jj

Share the fix don’t just mention it some of us are stuck

I thought that the DXO folks monitor this forum and would have provided you with the fix. I didn’t want to post it because it might have seem like a bad actor placing malware out there. Any, I want to remind everyone that this is a “hotfix” and hasn’t been thoroughly vetted and tested for all platforms. So your milage may vary. For what it’s worth here it is:

Photoshop V 27.1 preference reset Uninstalled Nik and then used the PowerShell script to clean up installed 8.2.0.4 hotfix and still nothing on the photoshop plugins panel

I’m not computer literate, so I’m not sure what to say. Here’s what I did. I uninstalled the buggy Nik 8.2. Then I shut down my computer. After a while I restarted the computer and downloaded and installed the 8.2.0.4 hotfix. I tried it with both PS 27.1 and PS Beta 27.2 and tested it with Define, Color Efex, Silver Efex, and Vivenza. All of them worked for me. I have a PC with Windows 11 with an Intel Core 7 cpu.

I wonder if anyone else has tried the hotfix and what results they have gotten?
