PL9 not able to see file with extension .HEIC but when I change it to .heic it can

I am new to PhotoLab and am trying to edit photos captured by my iPhone 16 Pro. When I exported a couple of original photos to familiarize myself with PL they came with the extension .HEIC and PL9 would not recognize them. I eventually figured out that the file extension might be the problem so I changed it to .heic and PL9 could see the file so I could open it.
Is this a Mac issue or or is PL9 very strict in the file extensions of the files it can read?

I would think it would be able to recognize both of them, it sounds like a simple fix to the code. I would suggest raising a ticket at support.dxo.com

APFS disks can be formatted to be case sensitive. This is not advisable. Would you like to use Disk Utility to check that?

Hi Joanna - Thanks but I do know how to check the case sensitivity of my disk (and my disk is not case sensitive :grinning:).

I was really asking (poorly) if the case sensitivity is something that is seen in PL9 on non-Mac computers. I think I will take LVS suggestion and raise a ticket.

On my Mac running Sequoia and PL 9.2, I export out of Photos using the Export Unmodified Original command to a destination folder and PL has no issues opening it. I looked at the file and it is listed as HEIC. If I do the same to an Apple ProRAW image it is listed as DNG. How are you exporting your iPhone images to PL?

From my iPhone 15 Pro, I put in a folder both .heic and .HEIC and all are displayed and workable in PhotoLab PL2 on macOS Sequoia 15.7.1.
So I can’t explain why you have this issue.

Not sure what happened originally. The problem has now gone away. I wish I had taken a few screenshots, I am not nuts (current thread aside). Perhaps a reboot to safe mode I did for another reason helped. Anyway I am not learning & enjoying PL9
