PL9 - Auto brush display now shows actual mask selection

I didn’t see this noted yet, so FYI…

Just initial tests, but the masking display for the Autobrush tool now shows the actual selection, not the entire brushed area.

The spinning wheel showed up if I went too fast, but the selection was very good.

Also seems to pair well with the AI subject mask as a subtask. Looking forward to this combo.

Yes! Finally! Tested in few photos, works pretty good! Even for very small “objects”. Now its works as “AI brush”. You not need to brush very-very close to edges, just close enough, it’s do the AI thing.

For very small objects, may (just may, as i check this) better if you not continuously brush, but just “click” a brush and click again from approximately 1/2 of the brush outer circle distance again, and again. Off course result on very small object far better with biiiig zoom, and smaaal brush.

I’ve been playing with this and it seems quite good so far.

Not perfect - it struggles in low contrast and lighting situations - but it’s incredibly useful to see (in near-real-time) what’s actually being selected and to be able to go in and clean it up afterwards. A definite improvement for this tool!

Yes, low light, low contrast is definitely not helps. Can you upload/attach sample raw file to here with the DOP file? I happy to check my idea (just idea) about " just “click” a brush and click again from approximately 1/2 of the brush outer circle distance again, and again." ?

A also wonder may its also works some different way (AI) with lower or higher resolutions, and ISO’s.

I think we all in the same journey / experience phase now.

I just go thru few of my 'Disco" (dancing peoples in not so much light) and results was better than i expect. 20mpx, Olympus EM-5 Mk3., ISO 25k.
With bigger brush and “faster movement” results can be 'square", with small brush i guess in very dark areas i guess its ‘switch back’ to some ‘safety’ logic. At least that i guess at the moment.
