I have been a loyal DxO user since 18 years now (already!).
It’s been ten years or so that by clicking the wheel of your mouse (mouse3, not left or right click), you could display the image as first loaded (depending on your setting, the unedited raw, or the raw with a preset applied) before you started working on it. It’s a very useful shortcut (at least to me)
I use it all the time to check the relevance of my settings (lighting, colors…) and toggle the base image before any work on it.
Where is my mouse wheel click ?? It disappeared from PL8. Please put it back, it’s way less productive having to click on the “compare” button on the top ribbon
@Joanna
Because the point is not for them to actually reply here as I was not fishing for an acknowledgement, but to take that into account.
And indeed they are watching all the feebacks and feature requests, especially in this early time of DPL8 release.
And secondly, I wanted to see if I was the only one having this, or missing something, or if there was a alternative, which Franky kindly obliged to tell. Thanks to him.
@Joanna I was about to write a response with respect to DxO (non) participation in the forum but (polite) words failed me, there is a first time for everything.
@Kyosato thank you for bringing it to the forums attention and seeking confirmation and/or an alternative to your shortcut.
My own strategy (since DxO vanished from the forum) is to bring it to the attention of the forum and submit a support request, and, as others have done, publish the DxO response if it will help others or draws attention to the support received if it is below par or indeed if it is par or even above par for my expectations.
I checked both PL7 and PL8 trial and your button shortcut works on PL7 “out of the box” and PL8 does nothing!
Having brought it to our attention I am now feeling “robbed” because it is a simple and useful shortcut but where are the details of that particular shortcut?
It is actually possible that it is an omission so worth a polite moan to DxO support!
I have included a snapshot of PL7 versus PL8 shortcuts (not aligned., sorry!) here
@JoPoV If we are playing the game of one upmanship it works in OpticsPro 11. In fact @Kyosato has stated that he has been using that shortcut for 10 years!
I have a trial version of OpticsPro 7 installed and Ctrl D is present but not the mouse wheel press!
A gift version of OpticsPro 9 Elite didn’t like a lot of my images but when I found one it would load (a JPG from a Dimage 100) it had the wheel press feature!
I renamed the thread, having done a bit of research It seems that I am not the only one requesting a shortcut. While my request is mainly having my favorite shortcut back for productivity, if we broaden the perspective a bit, we definitely should have the ability to customize shortcuts.
It’s a very low hanging fruit for DxO on this one.
@Kyosato I would suggest that it is a reasonable request to DxO to restore what has been there for such a long time, i.e. its omission does not appear to have been flagged up so it has been lost in error and should be restored.
However, regardless of how low the “customizing of shortcuts” fruit may appear to be hanging I don’t think that is likely to happen but would like to be proven wrong.
In fact changing something like that can be almost trivial or an absolute nightmare depending on how it is currently implemented in the product.
Personally I would submit a support request for the loss of the feature you have been using for 10 years as a bug and submit a new feature request for customizing shortcuts but treat them as two separate requests.
Just a quick message to inform that my beloved shortcut for mouse3 click to compare before editing/after is back !
Trivial thing, but it has been there for more than 10 years before from my recollection, and is very much part of my workhabit. Strangely enough is is not listed in the shortcut list.
Thanks DxO team!
