If I uninstall and reinstall it sees it for a while, leave it overnight and next morning PL 7 thinks that Nik 6 is not installed again. What does PL 7 look for in order to find out if Nik 6 is installed or not? Anybody know?

that sounds strange. Nik 6 had been installed and PL7 recognized it.
Do you occasionally/alternately use it with admin and user rights?
