I hear you, if vehicle masking (or whatever) doesn’t work “first try” then I’m using something else.
That said, version 10 just dropped so… maybe things are different still. The new features includes masking improvements/refinements!

New face-segmentation options bring even greater precision to portrait editing. Target eyebrows, eyes, irises and pupils, sclera, teeth, facial hair, skin, or lips, then apply carefully focused adjustments exactly where they’re needed. You can also reuse those adjustments across an entire series in just a few clicks.
