Generally it seems like Mac-users seems to have less problems than the Windows-users.
We have soon had people posting here for week about performance issues without paying any attention at all to the many threads where this has been discussed extensively already. Doing so will only stirr up unnecessary confusion and waste a lot of time for us all. If you are a Mac-user you might just skit what is Windows-specific.
I agree with every word Mark has written above. Install the latest Photolab available (today version 9.0.2) and for Windows users: on top of that downgrade to the Nvidia-driver for your card DXO has recommended (573.24) and if that is not available for your card you can try 572.84 instead that Mark and I for sure know is stable after a lot of testing. We both use 572.84 in production now.
If you do that you will not have any performance issues as long as you don´t use the premade AI-masking preset in the drop down list of the AI-manues.
For every user: Best Practice now is to use the freehand-hoovering-click select method. As the link below will show tests on my system with 16GB RAW and Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8GB works very well and with the recommended AI-method it will be about 5 times faster to export pictures with alot of AI-masks and editing using Deep Prime 3. It will also make your craches invoked by bugs or the overloadeing of your systems system resources.
Tody I have edited a lot of old safari pictures and I am very happy to say that my AI-masking workflows works fantastically well and effective now using the hoovering-select-method. It is really far over my expectations and pretty hard to believe the difference between those methods are so significant. I suggest you too try to reconfigure and start using the hoovering-method instead og the premade AI-masking presets and take it from there.
Our experiences are from Windows but there is no difference in the fact that using the premade AI-masking presets will increase the workload maybe five times even on a Mac.
